ok i don't care about alot of this stuff i have just a few SIMPLE questions

ok all i want is forged pistons and rods where can i get these, i don't need a bigger bore just stock, and still using stock dohc head with 63 cams

with just those mods and a 20g and on pump gas what kind of #'s can i run? (with proper tunning of course)

Did you even bother reading the entire thread?? I know I posted part numbers in one of the first few posts.

Literacy is the key !! :D

what?
the evo 8 pistons? won't those give me like an 11.1 compression ratio?

Holy Crap

First, you ask a dumb question that could have simply been answered from readign this thread, and THEN this?

You need a Honda.

ok well sorry fellas i thought TWO pages was enough to confuse me lil alone 7 pages

i got 11.1 from the fact that the evo 8 is a 63t and he did sate that putting them in a 64 would give it 11.1

and my question was a legitamite question

oh and colboostin suck a nut , i actually am puttin this in a colt you ass bag i got the idea from 4g61t.com

i HATE hondas :notgood:

your gonna get this thread closed you skin snorkel. SEARCH!! :notgood:

Someone needs to make a spread sheet that lays all of this out, I would do it, but I am not experienced enough to get everything right. Having a link to a spreadsheet with all of the different motor layouts, what block, what pistons, what head, timing equipment, pistons, compression ratio, displacement, etc... I think trying to explain all of this in a thread is insane (no offense to the starter or those who have been helpful). A chart containing all of this TRUE information, created by people who know their stuff, is something everyone can benefit from.

Also, is there anywhere where you can get ahold of these motors near new...like 30-50k on them? I guess I have a feeling that if I am able to find a G4CS at a junkyard, that it will have a fairly worn motor. I was just curiouse if there is any kind of thing like what they do with the 1G 4g63's that ship over from ### w/ low miles on. Thanks in advance.

Ok...new approach. I am now looking for the 91 Galant 4G64 short block. I didnt realize until today that there was a 4G64 6 bolt application. So...the same question as above, but now im wondering if anyone knows where i can find a 4G64 block with relativly low mileage. Also...I see that SBR sells a lightened and balanced crank for the 4G64....would this be worth the extra money? Also do the lightened ones handle the stress as well as the OEM? Thank you

there were only 2 vehicles that had the 6 bolt 2.4, 85-87 galant and the 89-92 hyundai sonata. good luck finding one of the early galant motors. the g4cs from the hyundai are easily found for around $200 for the complete motor. hope that helped.

Didn't the g4cs come without a nitrided crank? I wonder how long it would last on high boost?
no, its coated for sure. my machinist was in awe of how good a shape my crank was in for over 100k miles when i took him my stuff. the g4cs DOES NOT have girdled main caps but the mains are physically beefier so thats a null point.

That is good, I was thinking about building one up for one of my cars, but I thoght that someone on th board said that the hyundai versions were not, so I lost some interest worrying about having crank troubles with it. I wonder if the 4g63 girdles would work on the 4gcs?

I read what you said, I just wonder if it would work.
no reason to. youd have to spend the money to line hone the block and new mains and its a pain in the ass so your machinist will hate you.

yeah, and he'll piss on your block. i've got a g4cs block that i'd sell for the right price. it's been at the machine shop since the day after i got it. the machinist hates me because i'm asking him to do things he's never done before. pm me if seriously interested. don't bother low balling because i've all ready put a lot of time and money into this project, but i'll give it up for the right price. they are getting hard to find.

sorry for the dead thread revival bu i read the entire thread got some part numbers yadda yadda, however...there was a company selling fresh g4cs's on here (i got the last :thumb: ) and he said something about using a 89-91 sonota water pump...now i know this falls under the "everything switches over" but i just want it to all be right the first time...another thing ...yes you use mitsu headgaskets.....but off of what year and what car? this also was not specifically debated thank you for your time

im using a 1g water pump no problem. i also used a 4g63 .020 over head gasket.

There is a LOT of information in this thread. I have read pretty much every thread on this site as well as a few other sites about the G4CS build. I'll go point by point and someone who knows better than I can clarify if I got it wrong.

1. The G4CS is the same block as the 4G63, just 6mm taller. It is not uncommon for manufacturers to just share platforms. Mitsubishi has done this with Chrysler-Dodge-Eagle and Hyundai for years. If they are actually the same engine block, the castings would be the same, right? That would also explain why everything from the 6-bolt 4G63 transfers over.

2. The extra 6mm makes the deck height the same as the 4G64, so the 6-bolt 4G64 timing belt is needed. Here is where things get interesting. You could also use the DOHC 4G64 camshaft gears, or you can remark the (4G63?) gears, but someone in this thread mentions just using (4G63?) aftermarket, adjustable cam gears. I'm assuming that if you can remark the (again is this 4G63?) gears, then adjustables are a no brainer, as long as you can adjust them far enough.

3. The extra 6mm (in both directions) allows for the use of the 100mm stroke using the 2.4L crankshaft (100mm stroke) which can be found in either the G4CS, or the 6-bolt 4G64 found in the Galant. The best way to do this is order a factory fresh 6-bolt 4G64 crankshaft.

4. The only clearance issues I've seen brought to attention is the downpipe. Since the head sits 6mm higher, if your downpipe is too close to the oil pan (or is it oil filter) then you may have issues. What about the intake (turbo inlet) and turbo-to-intercooler pipe?

5. Oil squirters have been used, and have not been used. Use your descretion. I don't want to reopen this argument, although it has already been resolved.

6. Factory pistons from the 1G will yield a very high compression ratio. Use of aftermarket, super low compression pistons will correct that. If the block is the same, then couldn't you use any super low compression 4G63 pistons?

7. What is the rod ratio of the G4CS (basically what is the length of the 4G63 rod since they are the same and we know the stroke of the 4G63 and the 4G64/G4CS)?
