lights go dim as speed increases

I have a 1995 eclipse gs and as i go faster say 70mph my dash lights go dim and near 85 then are burnt orange color but when i slow down they brighten up alot. could this be my alternator? and ive also have the stuttering 4k rpm problum like a few others on here and when i spray carb cleaner into my throttle body my car acts completly fine untill a few days later then it goes back to kicking/bogging how do you clean out a intake manifold without taking it off?

Try some seafoam through the intake.

First problem definitely sounds like the alternator. The regulator inside is probably bad. I would replace with a new one. Depending on how much you are willing to spend I would go with an OEM unit.

def, sounds like an alternator problem. replace that and if the kicking/bogging still continues then i would be looking into a fuel map sensor. i had one go out on my 96 gs without throwing a code. i replaced everything but that untill someone said something.

You could always check the voltage at the battery with the engine running to see what kind of voltage your alternator is putting out. I would be looking for at least 13.5 volts.

To add to this, I would make sure it isn't much higher than 14v as well. Overcharging can occur with a bad regulator as well.

Also you might want to make sure the alt belt is tight it might be slipping on the pully causing it droppin not charge right.

I'm perfectly cool with anywhere from 13.5-14.8 volts. There's no problem as long as it doesn't go any higher than that.

I would check alternator voltage at the same time. If lights are going dim your dropping below 11-12 volts under load. Or your just traveling as fast as i do (close to the speed of light and your going faster than your headlights )

If you have to replace the alternator the Canadian model bolts right up and has more amps.
