Lets talk Ebay FMIC. Especially if you have one.

I have read a couple of threads on ebay intercoolers but just wondering which ones out there that are actually good? Allot of them have something that goes like this

"Good for up to 500bhp(I have seen from 350-600). all our intercooler has been tested to withstand more then 80psi pressure and it has very small pressure drop across the end tanks, at 15psi inlet the out let has 14.8psi that means it has only 0.2 psi pressure drop ,compare to many other intercoolers it is an excellent figure (some intercooler has 1-2psi pressure drop) also at the same condition, the temperature has drop from 120 degree to 28 degree ( and it is an excellent figure for efficiency"

Is the above statement just a bunch of bs or true? Has anyone tried the Megan racing FMIC? I think it's crazy to spend 700+ on a core and piping. I really don't care about name brands I just want it to work. Kinda like a Dave Brode part or Megan Racing or Johnny Racecar FMIC all cheap but effective with great quality. Here are just a couple of FMIC I'm talking about that look good but do they perform and will they last? Please chime in if you have a ebay FMIC or had one especially if it worked or did not work well for you. thanks

Megan FMIC

No name brand but has the standard psi and efficiency spill

Street Imports FMIC

XOXO Core but has good feedback on the core

I'm not sure if this was aksed but there is 55 pages LOL.

I have a 90 Laser with a 92 4G63 6bolt and I have also been looking at these intercoolers, but beeing kinda new to the I'm not sure what would be a good size.

I have a Big 16G and I'm at about 16psi on stock injectors. I want to run maybe 20psi a little later so I was thinking I would need to get one that I would be able to steep up.

Thanks for any info.

oh, ok so I just need to put in XS power store and that will pull it up.............. thanks

Last little dumb ????, that Intercooler looks pretty big and will I have to remove the bumper support? Theres not much room behind there...............

My Friend has an Intercooler from a place on ebay called XO2 Racing, For his Srt4

Im At 15psi Steady, and all seems well, Its well Constructed Isnt Leaking

Ive had it On there for about 3 months now and the car is My DD

The xoxo core, xo2, xs power, ect. pretty much all are the same. They are the "ebay" core that some company produce's and sells to all these venders. I remember when the first race core like these where introduced on ebay and it was some Austrailian company and it was like $300 for the core shipped. Now I think they are the ones who sell to all the ebay vendors now.

Chuck that 5 mph turd as far as you can. With an intercooler this large and cheap, I consider it my new bumper!

And don't worry about flimsy front bumper problems...they are non existant. The fit is so tight on my 2Ga it's as sturdy as before. And I removed the bumper and all plastic supporting mounts except for the 5 on top and two on each side.

okay guys . . .i now have the money for an intercooler. . now i like the way this sounds but its not a name brand company but that doesnt mean that its a not good. . .well ijust would like what ever thoughts you all have on this . . . http://extremeintercoolers.com/2g_7_kits.htm

keep in mind that i dont plan on going with a bigger turbo or fuel moods. . .well. . .maybe fuel.

I HIT A BRICK WALL WITH THE INSTALL/. I have the XXL XS POWER FMIC SHORT ROUTE PIPING KIT. I am also running a ported 16g turbo. What J-pipe di you guys use so it would bolt onto the LICP? I've gone through two (One of them was from BR) and no luck! I would LOVE exact or very close to exact fitment!

I used the j-pipe from turbochargers.com.I had to cut the innercooler piping alot. This kit was designed for a turbo that shoots straight down like a 50 trim and that style. You will have to cut the pipes no matter what.

Save yourself time and energy. Go to your local muffler shop and have them fab you a solution on the spot. Cut/welding is cheap and easy. Especially if you go to a shop where you can pay cash unofficially.

Well I was thinking, since I already have the J-pipe from Turbochargers and SBR. I like the SBR better. Circumfrance wise it is wider and is more ot the right for quicker flow of air. I was thinking have the exaust shop fab me up a one piece pipe that starts at the lower right end tank and ends at the j-pipe?

Have them weld them together too. You'll have a couple off the turbo and off the endtank, so you should have enough flex in there to deal with the motor torquing. Especially if you have poly mm's.

Why would I have them weld the J-pipe to LiCP?
I do plan on upgrading my turbo in the future, so why spend the extra $$?
My Idea, J-pipe which is coupled to the custom LICPwhich then wraps around the car into the endtank of FMIC. Good?

Check out the real AGP kit..

The EBAY fmic is actually more convenient because the BOV flange is closer to the intake pipe allowing the use of the stock recirculation hose.

Just thought that was neat, its those little things. Now only if it included a new coolant overflow bottle and bracket like the "real" kit.

this xspower/ssautochrome fmic core says it has 1.5psi pressure drop.

i noticed on an above post that someone mentioned a .8psi pressure drop on thier fmic. my question is, is 1.5psi too much of a pressure drop? what does "pressure drop" mean and having too much of a drop effects performance? it has 3" inlet and outlets, im having trouble finding one with smaller in/outlets on ebay. i've heard that anything more than 2.5" piping and in/outlet size is too much? or will cause too much of a pressure drop.
i see there are quite a few people running these fmic cores and kits, any info would be awsome i'm in the process of choosing a fmic and im torn between name brand and cheap ebay...
thanks !
