Knock count after rebuilding. Noise engine?

Have anyone here ever had a noisy oil pump? Sound like it might be coming from the block or the oil pump. It’s soo noisy that I can’t pin point where it’s coming from and that is the nosiest area I heard. Have you ever upgrade the cylinder head with bigger cams and stiffer valve springs and notice the cylinder head is noisy and louder then before? Because that's the second nosiest place I heard. I’m not talking about a ticking noise or a bad lash adjusters. My major question is that are these random noise that cause faulty knock? According to the datalogger it’s showing 15 to 43 counts of knock when I give 20 to 30 percent of throttle body under boost and it pull mass amount of timing. My car hesitates during take off. Some time it start knocking while steady driving under 2500 RPM. During 3000 RPM+ on steady driving the knock starts to decrease. It knock soo bad that I have to decelerate so the knock will go away and accelerate back again. It is soo bad that I have to put the gear in 4th at 3000 RPM to reduce the knock. I rev 2000 to 3500 RPM on neutral it show 10 to 30 counts of knock according to the datalogger. I try to retarded the ignition timing few degree back and my car hesitates during take off. If it’s the oil pump that cause the noise then what I should of done I should went ahead and replace it during rebuilding. Before the rebuilding the oil pump run fine. I compare the noise that I hear from my brother 90 Eclipse GST to mine and I notice my car have more engine noise. It don’t sound like a piston slap, rod knock, or a hammer slamming up against the cylinder block. People say use tapes on knock sensor help reduce faulty knock? If it’s not a bad or lose knock sensor then I don’t know what else to do. Have you DSMers ever had this problem after rebuilding and upgrading?

Here’s some modification I done during rebuilding. I hope this information will give you a idea what could cause this faulty knock. I have no timing cover.

Run only 93 octane pump gas
Ignition timing is set to stock
4G64 crankshaft
Eagle Rods with new rod bearings “Rods have no play while it’s connected to the crankshaft”
JE piston 40 over “Piston have no major play while it‘s in the cylinder.”
CompCams
Crower valve springs
Balance shaft remove

I didnt read your whole message because im in a hurry but just wondering if you correctly placed the oil pump sprocket?? when in-correctly placing the sprocket it will result in loud noises and a rumble.

Are you talking about timing the oil pump sprocket? I remember timing the oil pump sproket at top dead center but the balance shaft have been remove but wouldn't it matter? Or you're talking about the bolt that holds the oil pump sproket? I remember I never mess with the oil pump sproket. I could be wrong.

you have a 1g correct? now when you do the main timing, the oil pump sprocket will need to be in the correct position. To do this you can place the timing mark on the oil pump sprocket at 12 O'Clock. If it falls clockwise (CW), then you have incorrectly timed the oil pump. causing vibrations and a loud noise. To CORRECTLY time the oil pump sprocket, spin in around to 12 Oclock again, let it fall, the timing mark should fall counterclockwise (CCW). If it fails to fall this way spin it one rotation again and make sure it falls CCW.

Yes I have the 1G. Im sorry I didn't get what you mean by fall? :confused:

Are you talking about the sprocket falling back CCW?
 
yea. when you have the timing belt off, make sure the timing mark on oil pump sprocket falls from top dead center to the left (CCW) did you make sure you did this?

I never thought about doing that. I'll check out that this weekend. Thanks. :)

Another thing what make it fall? Is it because the balance shaft made it turn CCW? When I got the motor the balance shaft have been remove. :confused:

Maybe I'm just tired but....I'm not getting how the Sprocket is turing because of the Balance Shaft Rotating When He does'nt Have any... +1:confused:

with the timing belt off, the oil pump sprocket will fall left or right if you place the timing mark on the oil pump sprocket pointing up aka 12 Oclock. when it falls left you have it in the correct posittion. make sure it doesnt want to fall to the right or it will be timed wrong..

THE hole point We making it HE has NO B/s So it won't turn either way...
And there is a HOLE in the back of the Block to do that the right WAY
