Of course it may. But you still have to make sure it's straight across. It's more important for metal gaskets or gaskets that don't compress. Gaskets that compress can do without the need for this as much. But no doubt, there's still the need to check the block for straightness if you've blown a head gasket or overheated at all. You can't tell by looking at it. That'd be like looking at the front tires to see if the car is aligned....you can't.
.. no i am not worried of the grit from the sandpaper getting in the engine i bathed it, and i will again, i got the head back its its beautiful, the only thing is they sandblasted it
my polish job has been slightly degraded, but im not complaining it looks good. all the valves are in , the only thing is the valve guides arent that great, but we did not replace them because the old timer that owned the shop hated aluminum heads and didnt want to mess with it . (american cylinder) if all goes well should be doing to swap this friday, and until then just cleaning , getting a few new sensors, clean it again, and then put the head on , torque her down , and clean it again, then paint it (any suggestions on color?) i will try and get more pictures, the camera is locked up in the shop.
