Do you have a Mitsubishi dealership near. They have everything you need and can usually have it next day without paying next day shipping. I have had very good service from my dealership.

Are you serious? ACT is probably the most popular clutch for DSMs. I dont think it would be like that if they werent good.

He may be basing it off of this thread which started back in 2004
http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/hangout/133330-did-your-act-clutch-fail-you-if-so-post-here.html

It seems most failures outside of user error (incorrect pedal adjustment, riding/burning the clutch, incorrect install) happen on a spring hub assembly. ACT did have a lot of failures prior to being redisigned.

I ran a ACT2600 but went over to the Fidanza 4.3 which has problerms as well, just like any other clutch out there.

To simplify what you have to do for the ACT 2600 clutch install is... First take the forkball bolt off, put a head bolt washer behind it, then bolt it back on, this will make the clutch so it doesnt engage and disengage low to the floor. After you get the car back together, push the clutch in all the way and listen for the pressure plate fingers hiting the clutch disk, if they are then put washers behind the slave cylinder. Thats all i did for mine and its great.

EDIT, I took my used oem TOB, flushed it with carb cleaner and packed it with high pressure, high heat grease from walmart. no problems yet. I did my friends the same way because he would never buy one, he put 15k miles and no ill effects.

I have an ACT 2100 on my car with the ACT throwout bearing and its been running strong for now close to 8k miles no sound from the bearing what so ever. BUT this might be true because i took apart the bearing, re-bent all of the tabs to put it back together, and put a sh*t ton of bearing grease on it. From my experience it doesn't matter if you use the oem bearing, but its probably a good idea to get it while you are at it.

I have seen a act clutch come apart in my friends 2g gst. He took off down the road and all of a sudden sparks started coming from under the car. We got it back to his house pulled the transmission and the bell housing was crack on his stage 3 transmission. I am not saying all act clutchs are bad but I have heard nothing but bad stories so far from them.
