I am in the process of installing a front mount on my talon and was curious as to what people do about securing the bumper cover. Specifically the bottom of the bumper because after removing the plastic piece in front of the rad I realize the bottom of the bumper bolts on to that. I have been searching around for a hint to this but have not found the answer. If it can be mounted without (as im sure it can) and look good ill do just that but I just want to make sure.

I just atthed the top and cut out the lower lip edge for the most part to clear the intercooler, and left in place what i could which on the 2g is just 2 bolts on the underside of the bumoer to fender mounts and then the 5 bolts in a row between the headlights that hold the middle up.

other than that the bumper support holds the main structure up and in shape.. I cut away a good deal of mine to show off more of my newer larger core but before when there was nothing too structural removed i still trusted it to do it's job, i think at this point though i need to make an extra beam from some 4130 ssteel to protect things

For the most part that area i cut away for the intercooler makes contgact on tghe end tanks and stuff where its not cut away to revel it and that helps hold the lower front area out in the correct shape at speed :D

not sure how different the 1g's are but for the most nparts nthe ones i can think of were all cut away like mine is =just hanging from the top mounts

Thank you for the response that is what I was kind of thinking. I just wanted reassurance from someone that's done it already is all.

cool, yea you'll bE just fine, i tossed that whole metal piece from the bottom away and just hung mine how i said above and it's been fine for almost 11 years of front mount service
