Getting advice on how to run 9's from people that haven't broken into the 12's...ROFL

Why do you think nobody here has broken into the 12's? I have no proof of my time as I didn't build my car for the track but rather the street. But I guarantee I blew right by the 12's with my car. Shit, I have built two cars that run 10's.

Everyone, especially the OP, needs to watch the spelling, grammar, and punctuation. If you're going to ask as technical a question as how to run 9's, you need to make sure your posts are crystal clear. "Because" is one word...

THANK YOU!

I was hoping one of you guys would step in and state the obvious. Reading those posts makes my head hurt :)

well, thanks for all the insite, seeing that there was 5 posts that were on the topic... oh and also thanks for the grammer lesson i didnt really think i would get one asking a simple question... i didnt think owning a DSM required proper grammer... but anyways the question at hand was just to give me an idea on what you guys thought... i was looking really for what turbo i should get.... and i see that a 35r would do almost everything that i would like.. at this point im still not sure if i should jump in the boat of 1600s or sick with 1000c and im not sure on a good clutch so if anyone could maybe give me a balpark answer on that, that would be awsome. If anyone would like to give me some insite on how to run 9's please just let me know what you think.... thanks

I must beg to differ.
I do have a TS of a 12.3 and a few 12.4s as well, not just whats posted in the profile to my left.
But, in typical DSM fashion, the car was down all of last year due to a rebuild.

This thread is like asking to explain every topic all rolled into one.. Theres like 10,000 posts about the finer details on how to do this, since it seems this has been discussed many times. I think your about to embark on a journey, and the dsm can get you there from what I've seen. Good luck!

wow good luck trying to run any forced induction into a car with more then 11:1 compression.... wow

I have an S2000 and that is the stock compression ratio. There are multiple forced induction options that work great and are reliable with that car without lowering the compression. There is a Greddy turbo kit, Comptech supercharger kit and a Vortech supercharger kit. Someone has just gone over 180k miles 165k of them with the Vortech supercharger kit.

Best clutch, but very expensive, would be the tilton. A more realistic clutch that I would get is a ptt or quarter master twin disk. I would stick with 1000's if you are going to be using race gas. If you are going to be using e85 I would get the 1600's.

Dont take peoples responses to hard. There are members here that get hard'ons over posts like these from unknown members.

Your best bet will be to check out the 1/4 mile times page here on tuners, pick out a couple cars that interest you and go over their mods list.

That way you can avoid the ass hats and cut through the bull shit.

Get yourself a 10 second time slip (in a DSM) post it up, and take it from there.

Good luck; you'll need it to make 10's.

If your serious, truly take the time and make it into the 9's or even 10's; you'll begin to apperiate where the criticism toward your statements are coming from.

I'm sorry if this does not come across as constructive, but i know for a fact your firebird is nowhere near 9s, 13-14 second car? Dont bullshit.

edit: ... la crosse is a small town, its easy to to tell when people lie

Agreed, the high compression = no boost is a myth. Pull timing, keep it rich, and don't push the tune.

I went 50k on my old GT at 10.5:1 with 10 psi, no troubles at all.

to lazzyboyy22, em so i would really like it if you could pm me so i can see your so called 9sec firebird... i live in lacrosse and i have a 94 formula and i know for a fact that there are only 5 other 94s in town. If you have a firebird that fast in town you should drive it once and a wile.. or just stop the b.s. because we all know that you dont have it.

Closed, due to off-topic responses and other BS.

OP: do some research on the car, then come back with more specific questions regarding your setup. If you simply ask "how do I run 9's?" you're going to get a million different answers.
