How to remove ABS ring

I just ordered a new OEM axle from thedsmgraveyard, and it came with a ABS ring. My car never had ABS before, so I want to take this ring off, so do I need a special tool to do this or what?

yikes. >< you should of ordered the one without abs. The bearing and axle are abs specific. Order the correct axle for your car and return that one. Dont hurt yourself.

If you're not trying to save it, a flathead and a screwdriver. If you are, your favorite penetrant a brass punch, and a hammer.

Well this is what the description said.

"This is a New OE Replacement Axle for the 95-99 FWD Turbo Cars. These are shorter than the driver side Side. These work with ABS and Non ABS. FRONT - ABS RING COUNT 43T - INBOARD SPLINE COUNT 27 - OUTBOARD SPLINE COUNT 25 - OVERALL MM LENGTH 639 - INBOARD ID MALE - GST "

So what do I do, call them?

I swore I've heard of non-ABS users being able to use either axle, but I don't remember where.

No I haven't, I just would rather have it off to play it safe. If it doesn't matter whether it's on or off I'll just keep it on. But it kinda worried me what jstue said about how the whole axle is abs specific.

I have ran ABS axles on my non abs cars, they are the same, the abs ring doesnt affect fitment, leave the ring on that way if you ever sell them the next guy can have abs if he needs it. the fitment area is the knuckles and those are all interchangable

Yes, the ABS ring should not affect fitment what so ever. If you want to just for the fun of it, take a screw driver and a hammer and smack the thing off. But other than that, they are the same axle.

I have ABS ones in my can & dont have ABS.

Makes sense. I was thinking about the diffrence between abs wheel bearing and a non abs wheel bearing. (IE rear awd WB /w abs & WB /w out abs) Very diffrent design. Not interchangeable. But now that I think about it that ring wouldent do shit. The sensor that reads off that isent even there. So its just hangin out.. Let it eat!

Leave it. If you ever sell it more people will be able to buy it... It will not cause any issues. I've ran non abs ones on abs cars, and vis versa.

If you do a little research you'll find that basically all cars without abs can have an abs ring and it wont affect anything, so its quite fine and should install as is with no problems!
