I think you want to replace the first 7 with a 1.....

1 15 37337=i is eteet
1 15 31337=i is eleet

...but then you might want to be eteet.....your choice :)
 
I have the preditor hood on my gsx. It does not have the bulge.

When I was installing it I just had to take the cam cover off. I have poly engine mounts in the car so I do not have to worry about the engine rocking and hitting the hood. I alson had to trim small part of the hood support above strut tower brace. There really was not much to do to get the hood to fit.

The Hump on the hood can be with 1.8L's, they did this so they didnt have to keep wasting money on base models. A good way you can tell if its 2.0 is if it has a black top or a spoiler... you cant really tell if its turbo or not, I heard something about the rims are different... just have her take a picture of the engine.

even the most basic models have the hood cowl.


the 1g na sohc (1.8) does not have a scoop the hood bump is there for a reason and it is for DOHC clearence
1g 1.8 no scoop all other scoop

your correct about the cam clearence... but incorrect about the 1.8 not having a bump/scoop/cowl whatever you guys wanna call it... anyways the 1.8L in fact DO have a hood cowl, doesnt make much sense for having it there becuz there cam wouldnt smack into the hood like a 4G63 would... they did it to save money, one reason why I know the 1.8L has a hood cowl is because I own a 1992 eclipse 1.8 the 1990-1991 DSM 1.8's dont have the cowl til 1992... my guess being is because DSM wanted to save money instead of making 2 hoods they made 1 of the same... and what is "1g 1.8 no scoop all other scoop" mean... to me that makes no sense, but who cares this thread isnt about the hood cowl its about how can you tell a N/A from a turbo... lets stay on track here...

1.8's don't have the turbo body kit, all talons came with spoilers, the best way you can tell is the rims and turbo decal. AWD decal on the side of 1g eclipses, that's only the real way, i only found out eclipses have FWD turbo's in 91 like a few months ago. TSI talons came with fog's, kit, spoiler, and 5 spoke mesh wheels. Eclipses are about the same though, look for the fan look a like rim's. those are turbo rims for eclpses. lasers don't even have rims til 92 so just look for rims and what type.
 
AWD is ALWAYS turbo..just call and ask if is AWD, if you don't wanty to give your turbo dreams away.

that bump in the hood is for clearance for the cam gears, and the plastic cover that...well covers them...as for anything to spot, look closely at the eclipse bumper, any turbocharged eclipse usually says it's a turbo on the small print below the GS, unless it says GSX then obviously it's turbocharged

Some N/T's Had dual tip mufflers,mostly on the 1gb's.Talon Esi's had dual's,Eclipse GS's had duals,the difference was that the Turbo's had 2 "Real tailpipes" that had resonators on them,the N/T's had wannabe's,they had 2 small pipes that came out of the muffler then covers that went over them that made them look like a turbo.I had a 94 Esi N/T,had black turbo rims,Turbo spolier and dual tailpipes.I got hassled by turbo guys all the time cause they thought i was a turbo.
 
This is a good way to tell.

The only year I have seen that did not have the hump in the hood was 90. My 1.8 90 laser DID NOT have a hump in the hood. 91s may be the same way, but I am pretty sure all 92-94 have the hump.

Look through the window into the gauge cluster. If there is a boost gauge under the tach, than it is a turbo.

all 2.0(turbo and n/t) have the dual tips(I may be wrong, but I have never seen a 2.0 without dual tips)

All 1.8 have a single exhaust tip.

Eclipse and Talon
-If it doesn't have a spoiler, ground effects, 16" wheels, sun roof, dual exhaust tips, or a hump, it is not a turbo. Some high-equiped 1.8s came with all dress up options, BUT it will not have dual exhaust tips. Also, I belive that only AWD came with leather interior.

Laser
-90-91 is very hard to tell by just looking at it. The turbo charged looks basicly like the n/t. These years of the laser didnt' come with any really dress up kits except for the rims and sunroof. The dual exhaust tip is a good give away along with the 16" wheels
-92-94 Is just the same as the eclipses and talons. Except lasers came with a different spoiler stock. It is a 1 peice.

There are a couple ways in telling the year of the vehicle from looking through the windows as well. The only one I can really remember at the moment is the back seats. All 90s model came with a single peice back seat backrest. The 91s and above have a twin peice back seat backrest.
 
ive got ground effects, moonroof, had dual tips on muffler. comes with 16 inch rims and has the spoiler. as well as fog lights. and the hump.

i believe taht the turbo ones did not come with hub caps. also the 2nd gen GST all have grey two tone. like the while under side is grey. GSX did not have that grey part.

i think that the n/t spoiler on the 2g is the low one with the center verticle support.

if its a GSX it will have stickers on the side (1g, not sure about 2g)
 
I was wondering if the hoods that came without the "bump" could be put on a 91 Talon TSI FWD with the DOHC engine. I bought one and need to know if it will fit, I don't really have the time to try it out this week. Thanks.

No, the hump is there to clear the timing cover. And where did you find a early 90 1.8 hood? Those things are rarer than real women in west hollywood.
 
I found it from a guy locally, I will sell it though. Give me an offer. It's in pretty good shape, one little dent and a scratch, but if you were gonna repaint it it wouldn't matter anyways. Let me know.

no hump = stupid

the hump is what makes the car(unless it has an aftermarket hood like Vader or Predetor or something)
