Carbon Fiber Repair? [Merged 12-7] CF hood

anyone know anything about fixing a faded carbon fiber hood??

have it reclear coated, prob will cost you 1/4 of how much your hood cost if not more..

or bring it to a professional detailer and see if they can't work their magic on it.

I thought it was something other then clear coat on the surface

I have a couple cracks in my clearcoat, as well as it is faded so I am in the same boat. Would reclearing with a "darker clear coat" (if that exists) work?

My buddys hood is also pretty faded. What would you do sand down the clear and re-apply? Or buff the hell out of it?

Take it to a professional body shop because if you sand down too far and mess up the weave your screwed.

Problem is that gel coat and how it yellows over time. Best thing to do is immediately after getting a CF hood, is having a professional sand off the gel coat and clear it.

I found a hood the other day , it has no clear and looks like some carbon is missing off of it too . is it beyound repair??
