Got to love aftermarket stuff

That car would look so awesome if the hood was painted the same color.

A cloth is eating your car. OMG

That front end is kinda nice.

Yeah thats true. Alot of times it atleast screws up the center of the roof right above the windshield.

Looks good with the stock hood :thumb:
+1 :thumb:

That sucks.
My hood pins have already saved my life. I came home one night and noticed my hood pins were tight when I went to pull them. I pulled them out and sure enough the hood popped up.

So for those who don't want to see the hood pins, are there any alternatives? Other than OEM, personal injury or death.

Yeah definitelyn get OEM glass, normally you have to specify.

Thank god I haven't had my hood come up like that, but I still have the OEM hood.

Sorry dude.

didn't even to think about the glass, already got changed. The car is about sold though, have a guy coming down from VA to check it out.

Tuff luck on the winshield. Just make sure your not using cheap hood pins they can rust and change the color on your hood.

My OEM hood is messed up and i want to get a CF OEM hood.....i dont want anything too fancy so OEM. But i was reading some of the threads about hood flipping up while they are driving. Cracking the windshield and cracking the hood. Now i thought getting hood pins would help to prevent that but most of the ppl that read about have pins on the hood. Now is there any way to prevent the CF hood from flipping up?

Edit - no WTB ads. I'll let the rest stay as it's a genuine question.

A lot of the people that have them flip up have pins but forgot to use them. If you get a hood, get some pins, and use them properly, you should be fine.

Don't forget the pins and you'll be fine. I've had my hood on for three years with no problems.

Hood pins are the only way. Even VIS who claim to have the best latch (and it is good) have a note on the underside of the hood reccomending the use of hood pins.

The people who have their windshield are people who don't use hood pins or don't have hood pins. You also have to make sure that the hood is latched when you close it. On my car, I can hear the latch make a "click" sound when I close it. I was told by a few people (4 to be exact) that I don't need hood pins, but I decided to get some. I never drive my car without hood pins, not even for 10 seconds.

The difference between an OEM hood and OEM type CF hood is weight reduction and looks.

I currently have uninstalled hoodpins, and my talon is my daily driver. The previous owner installed the cf hood and rode for 3 years without using hoodpins, so i'd say that I trust VIS hoods, but I'm probably gonna install the hoodpin locks soon.

Its ok if you keep your original latch. The owner before me lived on a highway and jumped on one day forgetting to latch his hood pins. The hood fliped opened shattered the windshield. The roof got messed up almost like it ripped off its henges and dented the roof. What an IDIOT

i hada cf hood on my foucs. i did not use the supplied hood pins either and the hood came up at like 55mph on the freeway sent me into a panic and i went off the rode. the hood coming up caused something like 2k worht of damage to the roof and the front end. i would recomend anyone with a cf hood to pin that motha flucka down so you dont feel like an idiot when it does come. it WILL come up without pins, its just a matter of time and a lack of attention one time.

wow thanx guys....i guess i know alot of idiots then ### like 3 ppl that i know that have CF hood and use hood pins and still have the flipping problems....one from a Celica, WRX and an school civic hatch.

If the hood pins are installed correctly, there is no way that the hood can fly open.
