I just picked up a hks racing 50mm wastegate.. I have knoticed that even at idle.. there is exhaust comeing out of the dump pipe... its not alot but its there and when I rev up.. I can hear it... I thought that with a wastegate there shouldnt be any exhaust until the valve is opening for the dump.

Am I correct on this or am I just thinking to much.. This is the first external wastegate I have ever used have always been enternals before now...

The hks racing flange has the beveled lip that sticks out... Am I tightening it to much or shoudlnt it be flush between the flange and the wastegate body??

You sure vacume isn't getting to the area above the internal diphram? I've seen that make them be open at idle and during regular driving under vacum. Otherwise if you're sure there's exhaust coming out of it you may need to double check your installation. I haven't bought anything HKS in a long time but if there instructions suck as bad as they did 10 years ago, well i feel sorry for ya :D

hope ya figure it out

LOL well i bought it from a guy on the forums so no instructions.... it does has 2 openings on the top of the cap.. and the boost lead is run from the side.. but the top two are open.. I heard that the middle is nothing really as its the racing style its not a adjustment or anything.. should I try caping them closed you think?

I just read this on another site anyone know if the setup is correct?

*(just to explain how the vacuum lines are setup) I have the lower vacuum line going to the boost controller solenoid, and the upper line going to vacuum on the intake manifold. I am 98% positive this is correct*

Disregard that last comment.. jsut read it was for a EBC hookup not a MBC

I know this is a old post but just curious of anyone uses the 50mm flat 4 bolt flange wastegate on their car.. Like the hks racing wastegate? If so Im looking for a picture of the install.. I have bought a new w/g and installed it after a rebuild and have the same issue.. the flange has the fire ring built onto the flange.. it does come with a gasket but if you tighten the w/g flat on the flange the gasket gets all deformed and doesnt even seem to make a difference as if it wasnt ment to be used...[DOUBLEPOST=1409091580][/DOUBLEPOST]anyone?
