Wastegate Question

Read dexterholland04's post:
"To consolidate everything that was said, you can run externally gated in one of two ways:

1. Weld the internal wastegate flapper shut and run an external wastegate on the exhaust manifold (requiring you to buy a new manifold). Open dump is the norm off of this setup, as it is a little more work to route the exhaust back into the downpipe (not worth it in my opinion).

2. Eliminate (cut off the internal wastegate flapper) and run an external wastegate off of the o2 housing. This would require you to buy a new o2 housing. In my opinion, this is probably the better option because logistically, it is very easy to run an o2 housing that is dumped into the exhaust (much like the stock setup). It is very easy to run this type of setup open dump (just make sure that the dump tube clears your lower intercooler pipe).

Punnishment Racing has awesome external wastegate setups that you can run off of the o2 housing (both in open dump and non-open dump varieties). I would start there!"

He sums it up well in another e16g external question asked.
