Im sure this is a stupid question but I have to ask as I do not know the answer to it..

If you have a external wastegate with a 8psi spring and a MBC set to bleed off are you really able to get 15-20psi boost with the 8 and the mbc?? I know you can use a mbc to get a little more boost but im sure there's a limit...

Its S/S Racing HKS wastegate... and the springs arent as cheap as the tials.. so not sure

The typical rule of thumb for the upper limit is about 2-2.5 times the value of the spring. This isn't set in stone though. If you have an 8 PSI spring, I wouldn't recommend much more than about 20 PSI with the help of a boost controller. It's definitely possible to exceed 20 psi, but you'd begin to lose come control and could experience boost spikes. Another common issue would be slightly slower spool due to the sooner cracking pressure of the lighter spring versus that of a heavier spring.

I've always found it best to rely more on the spring, and less on boost controller assistance.

Thank you so much for your reply. So the smaller the spring like the 8 and the MBC will cause a slower spool?? I didnt know that.. My goal is 20-22psi max as the motor can not handle much more than that right now. Would you suggest a 18 psi spring then along with the use of the MBC?

Running 22psi on an 8psi spring could cause slower spool. If it were me, I'd just pick up a heavier spring. Something in the 15-20 psi range.

Thank you very much sir... is there a way i can mark this as resovled or do you have to do it.. Ill have to start looking around for a spring.. cheapest iv seen so far is like 54 bucks..
