I have a set of HKS 272's that were pulled from a running car. While taking the motor apart and cleaning through the parts I noticed the intake cam had a mark on it. It's a dimple on the lobe nothing that looks like it could have been caused by damage to it more like a defect when it was produced. Let me know your opinions as to whether I should run this or not, im quite picky about only running perfect or new parts so I wanted to ask around. It would save the $ not having to track down another cam but I would rather attend to it now if it could cause problems.
Since its completely below the surface and smooth I dont think it will be a problem, I thought of it like a bearing (the oil hole) but I could be wrong so.

That is a curious mark, looks like someone tapped it with a centerpunch!

Proabably will not affect anything, but if it bothers you or if the rocker that was running on that lobe is jacked, sell them and buy some new FP cams.

I was thinking the same way... its smooth and lower then the rest of the cam. Since it is a roller rocker that's going over it I dont think it will cause problems but wanted to look into it more before I run it. decisions decisions

I would agree with the other guys, especially since you had been running them with out an isssue. I do find it hard to believe that something that obvious would escape HKS quality inspectors... Could also be left from a Rockwell tester.

If there would be any issues it would have happend when it was new. Since it has been run I would not worry about it. The roller on the rocker arm wont even know its there. Good find though!!!!

Would a rockwell tester leave that big of an imprint though?

Strange none-the-less...
I would still use it... It will still work, and is worth more to you than anyone else... I don't think many people would be too keen on buying something with a "defect"

just my .02
