I'm just wondering how far/much. The 2G FWD A/T cars/transmissions can take. What are your Dyno #'s ? 1/4 mile times ? Turbo size ? any mods to the trans? I haven't dyno my car. My trans went bad before i got a chance. Just got it fix (still stock, translab shif-kit, alto end-clutch kit)

I'll go first! (My car a 97 GST AT w/ 79K on the clock)
Best run: 13.1 @105 mhp (2gallon 100 octane) 2yrs ago. Aug 2002 (55-7k on the clock)
Turbo: HRC S16G, HRC FMIC,255lph (stock injectors, UICP,exhaust leak, stock exhaust manifold)

Everybody! Put your hands together for 1PHAT99. As far as i know his the ONLY
2G FWD AT to get into the 12's. (Oh, actually i believe there are 2 more 2G FWD AT in the 12's,now)

1PHAT99 (99 GST AT)
Best run: 12.7-9 @117 mph (street tires)
Turbo: (not sure what it is)
Dyno : 383 WHP @24 psi (told by 1phat99)
Tranny: Not sure what his got.

My best time with the A/T setup was 13.6 @ 106 2.21 60'. That was at 18psi and extremely crappy spool time. Never hit full boost until around 80-100 feet out. And this was over 2 years ago with alot of tunning issues. But 3 months later my A/T blew up and I decided to go all out with a M/T tranny instead. Oh and my turbo back then was a S16G matched with basic bolt ons.

I was gonna say...there's been a lot of a/t sub-12 in the 1/4.

Yes, I know. AWD AT 1G/2G can pull lower 1/4 mi. times. My main issue are 95-99 FWD AT DSMs. They seem to be weaker. Like i said before 1PHAT99 seems to be the fastest 2G FWD AT right now. 12.7-9 @117 mph. The trap speeds alone are impressive. Not to mention 383 WHP. GIVES US ( ME ) HOPE!.

I know there are 2-3 more 2G FWD A/T outer running high 12's. I was in their webpage. I can't remember what i was doing when i found them.

If, i don't sell my car by the spring '05 (thinking about selling it). As a personal goal. I'll reach the 400+ HP mark by the fall w/a low-mid 12 sec timeslip. :thumb:

What do you mean by weaker...the stock tranny? Obviously the AWD pulls lower 1/4 thanks to traction not the tranny. But if you're into drag, why have a FWD?

There is plenty wrong with FWD for dragging, frankly, there is everything wrong. But, I personally like a challenge, and when I decided to mod my Talon, I had two things against me already AT and FWD. But, I'm making the best of it by doing all my research and making sure that I control the FWD situation the best I can. I have a set of Dragwelds 15 x7.5 and going with MT 24.5x15x8. I just got all new suspension, and am waiting for a few other things to get done before I throw in a new TC and LSD insert.
For now, when I race I look for my MPH vs. weight. That will give you the best idea of power. So, I ran a 14.2@102 last October. Sure there is no argument that 14.2 is freakin slow, but the 102 vs. 3300 lbs shows signs of promise.

That's cool. Drag isn't my thing since I like street racing. Even for that I'm going to have to go RWD later. But FWD isn't as bad as people say. I used to have a 1990 GSX many years back and it didn't feel nearly as quick as this car. I think I may stay with built autos though...I've really been impressed with this one and now I have a consistent edge over guys with sticks.

Good Luck! Let me know how the M/T swap works out for you. I might follow your steps.

####ies!! Just Joking! ;) We got a guy at atdsm.com doin an AWD 5 spd. swap on his spyder. Good Luck.

There have been numerous discussions. Road Race put it best when they said you are simply better off selling the FWD and buying an AWD.
But, yes it is very possible with $$$$.

Mike

well all this information taht i know just found, i didn't realize awhile ago. The list of the fastest recorded dsm's that are auto, made me want my project to be done even sooner. I love my car even more knowing that it has that much potential. I knoe the potential of the 4g63t, but didn't really think it would matter in a 92 talon tsi fwd auto. My personal goal by end of next summer is to have atleast 350 horsies and running 12's.

So what happened to everyone posting their times and dyno numbers? :D

I have a dyno day coming up this weekend and am hoping to break the 208 measly HP I put down last time (Big16G, 17PSI, 93 octane). Is there a specific way to dyno an A/T? I just take it up to about 50MPH with O/D off and then floor it-- it won't usually downshift at that point. Is this the correct method?

When I dynoed, we just brought the car to third, then as soon as the turbo would start to spool, we hit it.
At 17psi I made 220whp/185tq. That was still on the stock trans and stock intercooler.
Mike

dynoed mine at 262hp and 277tq, and it was about 115 degrees out. my best time so far has been a 13.3 @105 both on 93 pump gas pushing 20psi.

mods

big16g ported
ams fmic
550cc injectors
255lb fuel pump
s-afc
injen intake
full 3" exhaust, no cat
front and rear stut bars
h&r springs
kyb agx shocks
toyo dot slicks

i launch about 3300 think, i usally just use my boost to launch and i try to launch about 5psi any more than that and i smoke the tires.

My wifes 95 A/T FWD ran 13.8@101mph@15psi.

BTW little bit of info. Warren C Daniel is listed on Russ Coxes' page as running 13.2 but he was actually one of the first (if not the first) 2G A/T FWD to post a sub 12 second timeslip. It used to be on the times page and on Warrens home page but they are both long gone. To date Kiggly still has the fastest FWD A/T time of 10.2 I think. He now has since converter to a manual transmission and I think he runs 9s now. Our A/Ts were not really meant to handle that much hp even with upgraded internals.

Says who.... OMG
Not that I have special times or anything..but I submitted new times last October to Russ and it didn't get updated. I never busted him because it didn't bother me any.
Maybe I'll talk to my friend Matt, who owns www.atdsm.com with me, and without stepping on Russ' toes, myabe we can start hosting a times log.
Mike

i kno this guy in glen burnie that has a 92 gsx w/auto with a b16g, turbo back exhaust, injectors, 255 pump + other stuff i saw him run a 12.04 :thumb: at capitol raceway

I have an AWD A/T with a translab stall converter, shift kit and end clutch kit. I have a 2.3 and I am hoping for mid 11's or better.
