i need some info on bypassing my heater core on a 420a does anyone know what size of hose i would need for the bypass. would a bad heatercore cause my coolant level to go down and my heater not to blow hot air :banghead:

See where there's 2 hoses goin into your fire wall? Follow those 2 hoses from the fire wall and back to your engine. See those two heater hose's at your engine now? All you need is a 5/8"s hose and connect those 2 engine/coolant ports together. Boom done. That's it. Heater core is now bypassed. Very very simple

Are you talking about the coolant level in the reservoir? Because that level can go down from evaporation or over heating. If you are talking about the coolant level in the radiator, you are losing coolant and it has to go somewhere. Either on the ground or out the tailpipe.

I would check your head gasket with a leak-down test. Look to see if there are bubble in the coolant.

Are you getting any coolant on the ground? A plugged heater core will cause no heat but not always cause coolant loss. You are either getting no heat from low coolant or a plugged core. Remove the lines from it and see if you can blow through it. If it is restricted you may wanna try and back flush it to try and push the debris back through the core. If it is not plugged at all and coolant was full it may be a blend door issue.

if the heater core it self is leaking you should be seeing coolant on the inside of the car under the dash or it might depending on where the evap core drain is come out of the drain which would be under the car on the ground also if the core is leaking it will cause condinsation on inside of the windows if you dont see any of that you might not be getting heat because core is plugged or bad blend door motor from hot to cold if its vaccum operated it could have broken vac line as for finding a coolant leak best thing to do is top off your coolant an do a pressure test pump it up to whatever psi your radiator cap says then watch the gauge for creeping down also look around for leaks while its under pressure
