Well, i've een wanting another camera mount since usingmy last one as parts for another project.

this one isn't finished, the cross bar holding the camera and joining the mounts that clampo to the head rest is temporary until i can make another but it's christmas eve and i want to test it on lights and stuff i ride and look at tonight to see if i should finish it with a sturdy cross bar

the clamps are universally built to clamp to any bar rouhly 10mm in diameter and they can spread to a variety of widths form each other to fit many vehicles

here's a few pics of the rough product... a new sturdy cros bar will make it look nice and steady it out a lot. I've made a lot of cam mounts for other bikers in the past so it's nothing new and this is nothing fancy, just hope it works ok for lights tonight

My only real complaint is unles you spend a ton of money you can't find a decent locking swivel ball on a tripod, they all vibrate loose and flop all over, i've modified this one with an extra set screw to hold the cam-locking mechanisim tighter and allow it to clamp better so hopefully it doesn't pull a fish out of water move on me and have a siezure during filming LOL

:D

here's the over all and you can see the slot where the clamps can slide... there's also a piece of a tripod to allow a good fix on whatever angle/view you want, this should work out ok, i'm just learyof th flimsy bar it rests on for tonight

these clamps will tighten on the posts for the head rest and then there's 10mm bolts inthe back to tighten them up tho the main bar.. from there you can tighten and move the tri-pod part to a few different places and use it's picot ball to get different angles

I actually just asked my friend yesterday if he could make one for me! Nice job, can't wait to see footage using this piece. Question, how is the camera connected to this piece?

yea, part of a tripod i took apart to finish it up, but soon i'll be making my own 2 axis solid locking swivel for the camera and the cross barwill be much thicker and sturdier

Haha no I wasn't trying to sound like a snob about it!

It appears it just threads in like a standard camera mount for a tripod... I think?

LOL

LOL I wasn't saying you sounded like a snob or anything. Thanks for the info though.

Nice! Well, hurry up so I can buy one off of you! :thumb:

thanks everyone, the footage came out pretty good, with the stronger cross bar is should be perfect (not sure it needs to be thicker or stronger but i want to make sure it's sturdy in all conditions like a road course or something)

when i get back to normal life from todays holiday tomorrow i'll get some footage up

I like it a lot! Too bad it won't work on 1g seats.

explain why and how i can make it work on 1g seats and you never know what might pop up next, the mounts are slidable so if it's just a size of the post thats easily changed

hit me up on PM if you have a specific request or just post the 1g reasons/specs here for me to have for the future

1g seats don't have adjustable headrest the seat is a solid piece.

I made a mount similar to that and was dissatisfied with the view from that low.

Yea, the view without the tripod piece was a little too low, but with adding that (along with it being adjustable now) the view is nice, I can get the gauges in the bottom ovthe viw and the rest of the street view from the windshield. I only hav a short clip from going for smokes at the store but i'lll convert it and put it up tonight

Glenn

Also, I guess the 1g will require a different aproach to mount something up, time to think i guess (hope the smoke doesn't start rolling LOL )

It would be awesome if you could come up with something. Let the smoke roll!

Here is a 1g seat with the adjustable headrest (they also came non-adjustable, like mine):
