head bolt question

okay so, i was having some issues with my coolant system pushing coolant all the time, and i decided to retourque my head bolts to 65 ft lbs, is that enough? it still pushes, but now its only under boost, if i normally drive, it doesnt push water into the reservoir, but if i boost it, it begins to push coolant, any ideas?

65 ft lbs? Are you using regular headbolts or arp studs? Reason i ask is because with arp people like myself torque them down up to 100 ft lbs. Usually done in sequence of 30 ft lbs, 60, then 90 or higher. But again we need to know what fasteners you are using, i have never replaced any headbolts on any of my engines with stock "stretch" bolts i always just go arp for the added security and for the price difference of a few dollars i think they are well worth it.

so long as you dont strip them, it should be fine, i dont believe that theres a such thing as over kill, unless you do like 120+ and strip them all to hell and back

Stock torque value on a 6 bolt is 80 ft-lbs.

They are not torque to yield bolts.

They are not torque-to-yield, that is correct. Specified torque is 65-72 ft-lbs for OE 6-bolt head bolts.

7 bolt are torque to yield. Not 6 bolt. That goes for all 7 bolt 1g and 2g.

Did you recently replace the HG? The question is why are you pushing coolant in the first place.
