A guy I know locally bought a 98talon from auction and has no idea what he has on his hands. the car is loaded with parts, including a haltech system. He didn't know wether it was a e6s or e6k etc. but would it possible for me to buy that off him and program it for my car?

thanks

Haltechs are fairly generic, so odds are you could buy it and program it to run almost any car you wanted.

However, something I always like to say when thread like this come up (questions about standalones) is that if you need to ask questions about this sort of thing you're probably not ready to run a standalone. Don't take that as an insult, for the average tuner something like a Haltech is simply way too complex, and not user friendly enough, for you to be able to program and tune for the car to run half as well as it did stock.

Haltechs are especially like this because they require some creativity, and a lot of research, to run properly. If you're here asking if you can plug it into your car, you're going to have a whole lot of trouble when you need to disassemble your CAS and drill holes in the trigger plate, or the injectors aren't working well because they are firing in batch instead of sequential (or other problems such as these). The point is simply that things you don't even know exist need to be setup when you start from scratch.

One more point: I would suggest/request that you use a more descriptive title next time, regarding the situation at hand. Haltech is not that bad, but maybe something like "can I run a Haltech in my DSM" would be more appropriate.

My autronic hooked right up to all the sensor wires, added in an air temp sensor, deleted the MAF, loaded in a base map, and hammered!

yea i dont really know a whole lot about the haltech's, just sounded like a good deal to grad a standalone. he only wants $100 for it, i might just pick it up and do some reading, or just sell it on ebay. thanks for the responses
