Hey! New to the DSM community, picked up a almost stock (muffler and air filter) 98 Auto GST yesterday and test drove and idled for about a half an hour just fine but on the drive home after buying it didn’t even get 5 mins onto the highway and it started backfiring, tach was flipping out and died when I pulled it over and won’t start anymore. No spark or fuel, and is throwing a code for crank sensor, the sensor looks pretty new, I haven’t gotten to look too much into it because of work just wondering if anyone has any ideas

Have you tried to diagnose the problem at all? Or did you just come straight here?

Not trying to accuse you of anything, just saying that it would be helpful if you had any more knowledge or information to offer. (what is has, what it doesn't)

Sorry, I’m a noob to the community and made the post while I was looking at the car, it is updated now with a little more info, my main concern is crankwalk but I don’t get how it would run and idle without missing a beat for such a long time before having the problems

Yeah the crank sensor was replaced and it now runs and drives well sometimes but I get a misfire when I start it other times, pretty sure it’s just injectors tho. Funny story, as I was replacing the sensor, every bolt that I was going to take off was already loose, harmonic balancer was loose, tensioner wasn’t even on right, crank bolt was not even hand tight, the dude I got this from just left everything loose
