Gready knock-off BOV

Hey guys, has anyone ever had problems with the Gready knock off BOV? I have mine on from the FMIC kit from PR and Im pretty sure its boost leaking and making ALOT of noise...just get a something else? Also I have A BLITZ BOV but its not set up for the hard pipe. Suggestions?

I used one for awhile. It leaked like crazy. I could hear air coming out of it while doing pulls. Try a 1g bov since they're so cheap. Or get a used greddy type s off eBay or the classifieds.

The PR or ebay greddy knockoff bov isnt as bad as you would think.

You can actually make the knockoff, a legit knockoff..Meaning, NGR sells there upgraded diaphram for I think 40 bux..Replace the crappy diaphram, you got yourself a 70 $ type S.

I just got mine in the mail on friday.And yes the ebay diaphram is junk.

I just got the NGR bov for about 100 bucks used and had a ebay knock off before that which came with the car. The difference was amazing. Ebay ones are junk.

The diaphram is what is junk on the ebay ones..Like I said order the upgraded NGR diphram(40 $) bov is 30 shipped..You have a brand new type s for 70$

I have a greddy knock off BOV on my car. came with it when I bought it, but haven't had any abnormal problems with it. It holds boost, actuates when its supposed to, no diaphragm issues. Just the leak on the UICP flange gasket like with most BOV's, but for the money its hit or miss.

I also had a knock off i hated every minute of it could not get it to open for the life of me.Bought the turbo- xs rfl bov its loud but i love it.

I had an ebay greddy knockoff that came with my piping, and the manufacturer never tightened the nuts that hold the valve stem to the diapragm. The nut literally needed to be screwed down the threads about a quarter inch. Then it leaked at the adjustment screw, leaked at the main vacuum nipple, and the bottom nipple broke off as soon as I touched it. After a little wrenching, jb welding, and teflon taping, my brand new BOV was ready to put on the car.

Also... Have you removed one of the springs? Not one person has mentioned that for different boost psi (high or low) You need to take it apart and either remove the small or large spring. I took out my small spring and it works great now and has been on my car since the previous owner had it put on 4 years ago.

The knockoffs have the same exact insides as this real GReedy

^ I left both springs in for the moment..I'm gonna try it out..And then adjust after I get it on.Check for boost leaks, fix, repeat.

My knockoff does not have the horn, its recirc.

I got one almost brand new bov for free, thanks to a member here. So which spring are you supposed to take off to see improvement?

Ill consider the ngr internals and possibly have a vrry good bov for $45.

There are two springs in the bov..The wide one, and the long one..Keep the wide one in, long one out..Also on the top you can adjust to stiffen the spring as well.

Mine was the old type s or whatever. It had an O-ring where the valve sealed I believe.

There customer serive is not up to par to me. Yes I received my bov but it wasn't on time as promised and my emails aren't replied to until days later. As stated I did get the bov tho.

the knock offs are junk i had one. leaked like crazy. diaphram ended up going bad, caused a major boost leak and overspooled my turbo. theres a video on youtube of test being done on them and they start to leak after 6,000 rotations

Glad you upped your post count..But there is enough info on this thread that should have been read before adding a comment.

Remove the smaller spring, upgrade to the NGR diaphram, put teflon tape on the vacuum nipple to avoid boost leak, and set the bov to it's softest setting. The Greddy's should have a whoosh sound. If it sounds like a turkey gooble, that might be a sign of compression surge. So adjust accordingly. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

I have over 1k miles on my knock-off Greddy BOV from Punishment and it handles 25psi+ just fine. No leaks during boost leak tests. I get a good amount of compressor surge when I let off under 10psi, but I don't see that as an issue anyways.

If you have the knockoff with the red diaphragm it should be just as good as the ngr bov. I got that one with the punishment fmic kit and have had zero problems.

I have 2 UICP sets presumably by the same company since the bends are 100% identical (acquired from car's previous owner). Each set has a 1g style flange welded on with Greddy Holes drilled through.

Using a greddy style gasket and greddy knockoff BOV I have an insane boost leak from where the gasket lays on the flange on both pipes! It looks as if the flange is rounded instead of perfectly flat preventing the gasket from making a complete seal. (I'll post pics in a sec).

I've isolated my boost leak down to this but I can't even put 5lbs in the pipe before it starts blowing out of the bottom of the gasket. Anyone have any suggestions as to how to resolve this?

Side Note: All internals of BOV are as they shipped as I've taken it apart to fix the o-ring that slipped off the bottom valve.

When i had the PR setup on my last car, I used to get a lot of compressor surge. As soon as i removed one of the springs problem solved. Also i did a boost leak test with the knock off on there and it held like a champ . Kinda funny i just BL tested my new talon and that sorry plastic bov gives up at like 13 psi

I did this ....this was a bad idea I couldnt get it to stop leaking under boost ...besides isnt that what the soft/hard screws are for?

good info on the diaphragm. I have a greddy knock off sitting in my garage I was too afraid to install. might get this now and have a decent BOV for under $70.
