Gready BOV Problem

I just put on a hard pipe with a gready rs bov.When just driving the car normal no boost(around 2500 rpm) it starts to sound like a tea kettle.And when I shift there is no woosh.I don't know if there is something wrong with the bov or it has to be adjusted.

Sounds like a boost leak....there are plenty of threads on solving this. Otherwise, PM oldman

Check how you routed your vaccuum line.

definately a boost leak. do a boost-leak test and/or triple check that everything is nice and tight. also look at how well the BOV is sealed to the pipe. you may not have tightened it well enough.

EDIT: and it is spelled "Greddy" not "Gready".

I'm going to fight every single person on this board who says to tee into the BOV line. Even Defiant! haha. Anyway, if you have an MBC, tee it into your LICP/comp housing for the pressure source. This way you have an vacuum line running directly from the intake manifold to your TOP vacuum port on the BOV. Then again, it's most likely a boost leak.

I have no problem with boost but I have not tried a leak test.

It's always possible but not likely,at least not until you eliminate some of the suggestions here.

1. Boost leak test. (Should be done regularly anyway)

2. Make sure you're not tapping the BOV line for your mbc, especially if it's a bleeder type mbc.

3. Mike, didn't you have to adjust your type s?

I have a type RS, but same idea. I did have to adjust it a bit but it wasn't so extreme that there was no blowoff nor a whistling sound during boost. If after your boost leak test you find that the bov is opening under boost, tighten the adjustment screw so that it seals during boost but blows off when you let off the gas w/o fluttering.

Take that tee out and replace with a straight fitting from your BOV to your intake manifold. Take the mbc line and connect to your compressor housing.

tdo5h turbos don't have one on the compressor housing it's on the j-pipe/LICP.

Yup, Mike is correct. just unplug the line going from the tee to your MBC and plug it into your LICP.

Hmmm I should probably do this as well. I've been tee'ing my mbc on the bov as well. I'll do that next time I go home.
