Fort Smith,
after a LONG day last saturday , i brought the beast home. im gonna clean it up and get the wheels on it , snap a few pics and post em up here tmrw!

IM so excited i cant sleep , i should go out there now and get started! Plenty of time to sleep when your dead!

heres some pics, i been out sweatin my bootay off cleaning the inside and out !

enjoy ( i know, i know, it looks like a 4X4 !! )

i have to drop off a lot of the suspension parts and misc brackets off to Street and Performance to get CHROMED! ( its the show ricer in me! laugh.gif ) . My goal with the car is not only for it to be FAST , but to Look SHOW READY and still be a Daily driver!

 that wheel gap cant be stock... either those wheels are super super small or that thing has been lifted, what gives?

i dont get why you want the parts chromed. Chrome is much heavier than the annodising most parts ome with

1st gens and show ready don't go together imo. But other than that good luck with the beast

You gotta enter that thing in the Baja 1000!!! You're gonna need a more comfy seat for those hard landings though.

No offense but I hope you didnt pay a lot for that car. If you decide to make it really fast, you have a lot to do to that cage before it will be safe. If it is just a show car, the cage will look good at shows.

well guys thanks for the compliments :

you guys know my other car i just sold...... its on the 1g performance page.

as to this one ....... i have no money in it all all so far, sold lots of parts to pay for the cage and wheels....... It currently has NO motor, NO drivetrain, NO rearend in it , thats why it sits SO HIGH LOL! . As for the cage it is built to nhra specs . As for the seat, im padding the hell out of it and covering it in leather. For the body , im shaving it just like my silver one but im also shaving the flip-up headlights for a full hood and shaving the center side body moulding and adding ALL of the TSi spoiler and body kit. It will have all the carpeting , side panels , and sheetmetal rear covering the Fuel Cell, (itll look like its Tubbed in the rear).

Now, As for CHROME, its for cleanliness, i could care less about a little xtra wieght! i Just want a clean car. look at my BUSA below if you want an idea of my taste. MY idea of a TRUE daily driven monster is FULL weight, not a GUTTED trailer queen, My talon was FULL weight , and i didnt run into any dsm killers! I am doing this car from the ground up , i estimate ill have around 25-30k in it when finished , but heres my point, where can you buy a car that has WELL over 700whp , is EXACTLY what you want for looks , and able to get decent gas mileage for that much money ? You cant. It will be basically be a brand new car, and it will be exactly what i want it to be.

The parts that will be chrome are , enkie zr-1 wheels ( staggered offset), sway bars, rearend mount , and misc brackets, and the rest will be powdercoated or ceramic coated.
When its done , the people who doubt it will go " dam thats cone clean DSM"..... man people gave me hell 6 years ago when i said i was painting my talon yellow, and after i finished it , they emailed the heck out of me wondering the color???

when i got hit in it i decided to paint it SILVER and DAMMMMMM the response was overwhelming.... i never thought id like the silver so much till it was done.... heres one for good measure:

so what are you thinking needs to be changed about the cage? if its the swing bar, i checked and its legal , the whole cage is slip-jointed and Tig welded...... In my car wreck i was hurt really bad , sugery comes next month and its hard for me to get in and out easily now.

Well, it is mainly just welded to sheet metal. The mounting points need to be tied to something structural. The main loop needs suppot bars that tie to the subframe, rear down bars should have tied to the rear stut towers, and the front down bars should have either gone through the dash or bent around the dash and tied into the wheel wells or even strut towers. I would hate for you to feel safe and then get into an accident and have your cage detach from all its mounting points.

I have the tubes welded to 7x7 steel mounting plates ....... it would take quite a bit to rip those out.

Are you kidding me?

It currently has NO motor, NO drivetrain, NO rearend in it

Good luck with the car
But as far as the seat...
As for the seat, im padding the hell out of it and covering it in leather.
Why not just get a seat thats already done like that? Maybe i missed something but sounds easier to me.

your joking right????

I took the parts out of the car for rebuilding, thats why they are out.

the seat came with another car i bought , and it will provide good support for my back when launching. Its not costing me a DIME to cover this seat , im doing it myself.

When those 7"x7" plates are welded to paper thin sheetmetal, they will rip out pretty easy. I was just suggesting something for your own safety. If you dont want to listen and observe, doesnt matter to me because its not my ass and my cage is properly supported.

do you have any pics of your cage and mounts so i can see what you mean by properly done?

ok, i guess not.

JP

yeah no doubt, an awesome ride for sure. That was your yellow dsm??? sweet!! I want to paint mine yellow now! I wouldn't like the seat personally, but thats your thing. Rock on man! You've shown your style, and I applaud you for making your car YOURS! I wanna see pics when you get this one done!

As for the roll cage, I can see what he's saying. I'd check to be certain that you got it right. You don't want to mess around with your own safety!

Yea, post #2 . I cant really take any good pics now because my interior complete now. Notice how my down bars are welded to the rear stut towers and I also have hoop supports that are welded to the subframe. Also, the mounting plates for my door bars are welded into the rocker panels.
