    Hello everyone,,

wet... defantly. studied up on it and i KNOW i want wet.

but what shot should i get running on a pretty much stock internal engine.

actually the internal engine is stock all the way.

i would like to know what shot i need to get, some tips on using it.

It would very much depend on your car.
If turbo or non turbo, with how much boost, the engine's age (internal parts conditions), what AFR/ignition timing, what gas, what fuel pump, capability of nitrous solenoid, etc etc. So no one can tell you an accurate max safe shot number for you. For safety's sake, just start from 50 or so.
Assuming if the car is healthy and w/ turbo, stock boost, stock fuel/ignition maps, for sure 100 shot is safe. You can safely go more shot if you have at least a metal head gasket and head studs. You would probably start to feel the difference from 75 shot and if exceed 75 shot, should go with colder spark plugs. And most of nitrous kits normally come with a 50 - 150 range jet set.

Nitrous on bone stock motor? WHY?

You will probably end up closing a ring end gap and cracking a ring land on the piston. At least that's what I have seen in other stock internal engines asked to contain nitrous fires... maybe the 4g will take it?

I defantly would not put nitrous on it...

I am the old guy, ran NOS since 1980. A stock motor will take it but you have to make sure you have the correct nozzles, pills and at the right pressure. If it leans out.....BOOM (which is how I GOT my 1st kit in 1978, guys blew the motor up, had the solenoids on the wrong nozzle bars).
I ran that 150 shot on my Chevy 327 in my V8 Vega and it loved it, what a ride. We had a guy in Wichita that was throwing a 150 shot to a stock Saturn DOHC motor like in my DD and it took it for 2 yrs before deciding to let go. It can be used but you had best know what you are doing and make sure it has right jetting or you will be sad.

Probably it's because easier to gain some power quickly. I guess the first issue he would probably have is pushing coolant or a blown head gasket before butting the end gap or getting ring land failure. And totally no offense but actually nothing is wrong with going nitrous on a stock engine and it's safer than raise the boost with a stock tiny turbo and intercooler (especially if the owner is not familiar with turbo and if the nitrous kit is wet) .Nitrous reduce the inlet temp a lot. I used to use nitrous on a stock engine w/ turbo, too. I have never had any issues.

No offense taken... I am just sharing what I have seen from my experience. Ring end gaps close and pistons crack. I am sure a flawless tune and system setup can mitigate the risks. Poor distribution through the intake manifold can give you a hot hole and then poof, time for a new engine. There is a reason engine builders recommend a larger ring end gap on nitrous builds. That said, I hope it handles it fine for the foreseeable future! If you are smart about implementing it, you will probably be fine. Good luck!

Much larger ring gaps on high boost motors too Will. I set mine pretty loose just for the reasons you are describing. EXPANSION......YOU HAVE TO ACCOUNT FOR IT. I run .005 PTW clearance and .024" 1st and .028" second rings and even file the oil rings.
When I got into these cars, I bought a built short block for the Red Talon (from a reputable source) and they didn't have the ring gaps set for high boost, I have that motor apart and have scratches on the cylinder walls from the ring gaps (and blow by). I haven't taken the pistons out yet, but will and am putting in new rings and rod bearings when I get there. That is when I decided I knew more about "motors" than the outfit I bought my short block from and haven't had any issues with the values I use for my builds so I no longer "buy" motors, I BUILD THEM. I am probably double the age of the outfit that built my 1st 4g short block too, so experience paid off there also.

I respect and agree with what you think. So I have large gaps on my 1g because of like what you said. Here is my opinion, there are always some people have a bad luck, but it doesn't mean the thing is bad always. I build engine, too and last 30 years I have been seeing many people had a bad case/luck with nitrous, too. but I have seem way more people have no issues. here was speaking from own experience about how was on my own car, not on a friend's car or someone's. Nitrous is not that dangerous as you imagine if you know how to use properly. You really don't need to worry that much about the ring gap butting or ring land failure if less than 100 shot with stock boost on a stock engine even if it's with a single nozzle.
Here is my another experience on my daily 2g with stock 6 bolt bottom end, before I was running a 16g around 20 psi + 100-125 shot numerous times in the track. No ecmlink nor standalone ems, just a 25 years old safc and a wideband but had a metal head gasket and arp head studs. I had no issues while it was with 100-125 shot for long time, then one weekend I went 175 shot and raised the boost a tiny bit then after a couple passes, a rod got bent. but pistons/cylinders had zero damage.

Nothing to do with imagination... I have SEEN it with my own eyes. Luck has very little to do with it. Proper system setup and tuning are everything. Same goes for a high boost only car. Probationary member with zero build details... and you think nitrous is a good plan?

I don't want to argue with you guys. OP - good luck!

As I said above that I agree with what you say because you are saying is a right theory. And I do understand that you saw it. No one is arguing about anything here but if you say you are not here to argue then you really shouldn't deny people's own personal experiences. everyone respects what you saw, so do you. I don't deny nitrous even I have seen with my eye that a few people have some issue, because I have seen much more people have no issue including myself.
I think you are not even reading my first post, "Assuming if the car is healthy and w/ turbo, stock boost, stock fuel/ignition maps", No one is talking about with high boost or something. Of course with higher boost or way more shot would be a different story.

This is what I am thinking I will do. Stand alone, has safety features and will do EXACTLY what I want, a NMU to go with my ECU Link V3 and SmartShift TCU.
Hell I burned up the NOS solenoid dicking around in Links settings so a stand alone is what I'd like to do. I sure cudda used it last weekend! 15835350592091413011181344007663.jpg

It was my fault , I wasn’t prepared , left late to the track and had the nitrous on a toggle . When I was stagging the guy next to me took forever so when I let off the throttle and when I did the nitrous backfired and it exploded.

I need mine to get into boost with the stock converter. I can open up the waste gate at the back end if I need that little more. I just need to jump instead of crawl at the light.
I'd "like" your response but didn't want you to take offense. Glad you could share with me. It looked pretty knarly.
