Do not purchase a GODSPEED front mount intercooler kit from anywhere. I tried to save some money and bought this one. Two of the parts in this kit are bad from the manufacturer which is FATBOY. The jpipe is bad because they take a pipe that is to big and weld it to the flange that bolts to onto your turbo. Due to the pipe and the weld there is no room for your bolts to bolt on strait to the flange. The weld and pipe is in the way. I even tried using allen head bolt that have a very small head and there's still no room. you have to grind weld off of it and that is risky because you lose integrity of the part. I notified them of the problem and they sent me another part and it was just as bad as first one. All they would have to do is use a smaller pipe at the flange and expand it at the bend to the larger size. But they're to stupid to do it. The problem with the other part is the bov pipe. they welded the flange in the wrong place. You can take the part they sent you and compare it to the one that have in their picture and it's not in the same place. Save some money and get a water to air kit from frozenboost.com it's way more effective and parts are good.

It seems hit or miss maybe you just got a bad part, some manufactures even have parts that have problems , the ones that arent made right here in the states.

Is godspeed made in china ,heard of them but never knew where they were produced.

From what I've read, Godspeed is one of the better ones, I've been wondering about rolling the dice and getting the full turbo kit (I'm way too anxious), or just waiting two more weeks and gettin the real thing. It's good to hear first hand experiences with these parts, it seems like some people come out ok. I bought an eBay clutch kit and so far I'm not impressed, now I wish I had got the real deal ( especially on that!)

I wouldn't risk it on something as precision as a turbo. I've read several reviews of godspeed turbos, and almost all were FAR out of balance spec brand new. Granted you can take it to a machine shop to be balanced, but that might end up wasting what you saved on the purchase. Their FMIC kits do seem to be hit or miss; for about the same price you can get a VR-Speed kit that's had great reviews :thumb:

BTW, sorry to hear your misfortune OP, hopefully they'll take a return without too much of a headache..

Just because its ebay does not mean its crap. do a google search you will find many reviews on ebay parts on many other enthusiast forums rather than just here on tuners. half of my car is built on ebay parts. i have nothing bad to say about ebay. my clutch is also ebay xtd its holding perfectly fine with 100s of 2 step launches. most these fools in here has never dealt with ebay parts but likes to just point you another direction because of what they read. over my years of buying ebay product, the quality now is way better then what your finding on years old post searches.

I can definitely vouch for the fitment issues of a Godspeed kit (on my 2g with 16g). Especially the J-Pipe which not only didn't bolt up like described above, but was offset from the turbo outlet over half an inch. I ended up using a bunch of old piping and couplers from a buddy along with a stock J-stubby just to get it to work. And after all that work, it became very inefficient after 15psi.

For the price you might as well go with one of the tried-n-true kits like Punishment or VRSF.

+1 on Punishment or VRSF. although I even hd to do a little dremmel'ing to get the bolts to sit flush on the j-pipe for both of my Punishment kits, but still worth it and there were no ther fitment issues either.

Also, My Talon had a godspeed kit on it as well, but! I also had a t-25 at the time so no j-pipe. There were no fitment issues with that.

Agree with the Godspeed j pipe HORRIBLE fitment had to modify mine to fit my 16g as well. 16g was also Godspeed and shelled its guts after 50 miles causing rod 2 bearing to spin 180* on top of the other bearing trashing my crank from all the metal spewed into the oil from the turbo. Never even did a full pull on the car. Drove it to work after putting it on. Godspeed universal core no complaints worked great.

So wait...10 year old child laborers don't make good parts?

LOL.

It is great to hear a success story! Hopefully when my clutch breaks in it has a better feel. I still may try the ebay turbo kit, I'm a gamblin man!

Go ahead and search for the failures, too. Betting the health of your engine on a substandard part is stupid, but seems to be the MO of the "new generation" that I hesitate to call "DSMers".

Support child labor; ignore supporting vendors that still help with cars that haven't been made in 13 years. Good effin plan, kids.

I can definitely say go with VRSF. I make over 600whp through that core and have run 40-41psi through it. I also liked the Punishment Racing FMIC when I had a smaller turbo on the car (20g).

you definitely have a point but times are tough! Its a debate that will be going on forever (and in my head for the next week!). I really would like to support these local vendors, and I may. I definitely don't want to blow my engine b/c of that crap either! Hopefully whatever decision I make works out. I've learned the hard way on a bunch of things, maybe I should make a grown up decision... Time will tell..

I love these post's......so you go buy a car, than you want to mod it to make big horse power....run 10's before you ever run a 12,so you order the cheapest part you can find....it's fitment is a little off and you make a statement like don't buy an entire brand. One day when you grow up you will look back and relize how dumb that really was. Do you think Shep just bought parts off a shelf and ran mid 7's. Think before you post and if you can't, don't post, and if both fail buy a honda you'll fit right in.......

I have read and I am in the process of following the upgrade path, I just want to get the turbo and FMIC all at once. I already have injectors and fuel pump, and I want to find a turbo and piping. I'm getting ECMlink next week as well. I don't want to run 10s yet, more like low 13s. I've read the quick big HP posts and thats not what im going for. After the last year of having a DSM, I've realized that you need to follow the upgrade path or you are wasting time and money. Also there is alot to learn about these cars before anyone should want to be able to run 10s. I admit, I am a noob. I just want to have fun with my car before I do a huge rebuild. I thought about buying a Honda and doing a motor swap, but I live in the moutains and need AWD. Also there is something special about these cars that I can't look past. I have always been interested in the turbo DSMs, and now that I own one, it is now my hobby.

oh didnt read the post too good. you guys have the j pipe issue because of the baby 16g. i was on the down firing 50trim did not have a problem.

Well that is good to here, being in retail it just hits a nerve when people bash entire companies over install issues when these cars really require alot finess to build one that will hold together. No matter what you do, the best fitment of any j-pipe or fmic pipe is going to be custom or at least a kit cut and welded to fit your specific car. There are alot of different ways to set this stuff up and no two cars are really ever going to be the same so you may have to grind and cut and weld.......but really next time think a little more before you start a thread ripping an entire company apart.....godspeed has products that are value priced so you as the consumer you have to understand that you get what you pay for...period

people bash over things they've read most of the time. bunch of followers. Just like when i purchase my sbr g50. supposed its a piece a crap on many reviews and you have to run a restrictor on it so it will not last. but i have mines for 16k miles oil feed off filter housing no restrictor boosting 22-28 psi no issues no shaft play. oh yea i was wondering WTF happen to slow boy racing???? LOL. they dont even post no more.

Well, I didn't start the thread and I didn't bash anything, so I'm not sure if you are talking to me... I'm just trying to hear stories of peoples experiences and learn more about my car and car's in general, so I'm sorry if you got the wrong impression.
