Do not purchase a GODSPEED front mount intercooler kit from anywhere. I tried to save some money and bought this one. Two of the parts in this kit are bad from the manufacturer which is FATBOY. The jpipe is bad because they take a pipe that is to big and weld it to the flange that bolts to onto your turbo. Due to the pipe and the weld there is no room for your bolts to bolt on strait to the flange. The weld and pipe is in the way. I even tried using allen head bolt that have a very small head and there's still no room. you have to grind weld off of it and that is risky because you lose integrity of the part. I notified them of the problem and they sent me another part and it was just as bad as first one. All they would have to do is use a smaller pipe at the flange and expand it at the bend to the larger size. But they're to stupid to do it. The problem with the other part is the bov pipe. they welded the flange in the wrong place. You can take the part they sent you and compare it to the one that have in their picture and it's not in the same place. Save some money and get a water to air kit from frozenboost.com it's way more effective and parts are good.

Yep, I did. I spend $700 on a brand new, FP-Big T-28. I also spend thousands of dollars on my short block, head, and TMZ transmission. Why? becuase I like a side of reliabilty with my power ;)

There is a reason why consumer and industrial manufacturers use MHI/IHI/BW/Garrett turbos instead of rip off ebay versions.

have all of you guys ran ebay turbo's and blown them up, I really doubt it. .

I have a blown "e-bay" 16g sitting in my garage right nowOMG It came off a friends car. It didn't last very long.

We are trying to help. Help prevent people from being seduced into buying inferior products simply because they have an attractive price tag.

Thank you for proving my point......Who's car did it come off of?????? Oh thats right not yours.....I have a friend who blew up a PTE 6262, should I start posting bad things about PTE now????

if you search there are people who actually blown it. but there are also successful experiences too. ive seen more successful ones then horror stories. the bad will always over shadow the good. just like the Kinugawa turbo thread which Kinugawa bashed on because it was made over seas. but i seen several cars with kinugawa turbos and parts. only thing i can say a nice piece of work.

i can be a cocky mofo too.. but im not. look at my mod list. like i said dont get mad at my awesome experience with a freaking cheap knock off ebay 16g. dont hate congratulate. what are you doing with a blown ebay core in your garage?? throw it away you sound so sick of it.. right you love the exhaust housing and the compressor housing... LOL. its easy to be an a-hole but im not.. sorry if i offended you.

I'm sorry I offended you.

Why is it in my garage? Becasue my friend took it off his car and it has sat on the shelf ever since. He put an used MHI 16g on and it ran fine until he sold the car. I have no use for the exhaust housing or the compressor housing.

There are plenty of reasons why people are warning against them. Many of us have had personal expirence with them, or know some one who has. While we might bash the bad, we also praise the good. There are plenty of threads about how wonderful the hoselt hx35 is. It's cheap, reliable power, and not reverse engineered.

my understanding is times are though get your best bang for the buck. after all i was satisfy with my experience with the ebay 16g. like i said i try it and didnt fry it. did you? happy day to you. if your broke go for it. if you rich and got dollars to drop go for it. Not many teens in here can afford what many older guys in here rock. its all on your current position and status of money. I had a genuine mhi evo 3 16g before the ebay 16g! like i said to me and myself only!! evo3 16g=over rated OVER PRICED!!!

I just wanted to touch on this. I did have an ebay 16g. I knew I wanted to upgrade to a Holset but couldnt afford all the attachments at the time. I was in college, living on my own with a roomie, working part time at a parts store. It got me by for 2 years on lower boost, under 20 psi. This was my daily, winter and all. When I cranked it up to 25 psi and drove it like that for a month after I had bought link is when it decided to crap out on me. I knew it was coming. If I could go back and do it all over again I would of just bought a used MHI from Justin. Its cheaper or the same price with twice the quality. I have run over a half dozen of his turbos on different cars and the only failures were due to engine issues. Never from his side of things. Did the chinabay turbo get me by? Yes and it was fun as hell as a daily. I have had two of those things die on me from just turning the wick up and I have not had one MHI turbo let loose ever from running higher boost levels on the same set up. I have nothing againt running a knock off. Its your car your engine and your reliability and not my problem. This crap of buy American is irrelevent, since when was MHI,HKS,Greddy,Holset, or any of that stuff American? Last i checked MHI and HKS are ### companies and Holests are made in the UK and thrown on American trucks. If you want to make the arguement to support dsm vendors I will stand by yourside. I think the China stuff is undercutting the quality parts.

Also the age thing with being able to afford what the older guys can afford is a cop out. Im not buying it. I built my dsm going through school. Its just money managment and how hard you want to hustle. It doesnt get much cheaper then DSM. Why give yourself a reason to work on them more then you have too. After my cheap ebay turbo experience I found a holset H1c for a 100 dollars bought the BEP bolt on housing and lines for 300 and some change and did all that on advance auto wages along with the other mods needed to support that set up, link, exhaust, fuel set up.

To slightly stay on track with the origonal post. I have a godspeed fmic on my daily. I did NOT buy it. It came with the car. I have 0 complaints about it for what im using it for. I will not be taking it off to put a side mount on. It may not be the greatest thing since sliced break but it fits and should hold what I want to throw at it. If I did not already have it I would of bought the VRSF. I have the kit from them on my 2g and I love it.:thumb:

I wonder what all the youngins defending this crap would have done back when an IC was 1k+ and us "poor college kids" had to actually save our money, instead of supporting knock off junk.

Keep buying this crap, and eventually that'll be all that's on the market. Remember AMS? Probably not in the DSM world. They weren't the first, and won't be the last to bail on this platform.

At least a few of you get it.

As much as I love this bickering back and forth (makes for good reading) been trying to get an answer on my question. I have a crap mizu fanshroud (I know I know china crap I agree just needed something quick,J-pipe didnt fit with stock fans) but now ready to get something good. Going to keep the shroud just want to know SPal or F.A.L? Is there much of a difference or is it a prefrence thing? Thank you.

I gotta say I'm sick of hearing this times are tough BS and sob stories. If you can't afford it don't do it. Grow up people.

I'm sure most of you times are tough kinda people could actually have real jobs and still squander enough money to have to buy ching chong turbos. Reminds me of driving through downtown San Antonio where everyone drives a 2012 escalade with rims and lives in a 60 year old 400 sqft outhouse that i wouldn't even throw my own feces at because they even deserve better.

Both are miles above the anemic fans that come with the CX/PR/etc IC setups.

This.

How we went from a non-mechanical piece being suitable to lauding compressors that may shed metal directly into your engine is unsurprising, but how about getting back to the rad topic. ;)

I've heard great things about both SPAL and FAL. I don't think you will have to worry about either, just make sure you get something that is the right size for your radiator and has a a decent CFM rating. If you can, try to stick with pullers...

EDIT: Straight blades are little noisy while curved are a little less noisy, but a little less efficient

Both publish CFM. Determine the price point and size to fit the shroud; buy away.

Well going to go with 12" since I want to keep the shroud I have and yeah of course pullers. Just car is running hot ever since I put the front mount on.

I have the FAL dual 12" shrouded 2500cfm made specifically for or cars. They are slim @ 3" thick installed and I've run them for the past 5 years as a daily w/ no problems, works great.

Yeaaaaaa I'm just gonna return the 16g, I should have done.more research before I went ahead bought that darn thing but in a way it wasn't a total loss, I got it all price matched and wasn't my $$$ LOL I'm just gonna buy a stock t25........does anyone have one they like to sell to.me???

whatever man I'm not cryin about it, just weighing out the options. I'm sure you are sick of it. I'm sick of people getting all butt hurt for even mentioning Ebay on this site. It's my car and I'll do what I want with it. I thought the point of this was to learn and share stories and experiences. Not try to bring less fortunate people down, which obviously get some people off. I know what I'm getting into so you won't see a post about "DSM's are unreliable crap" from me. But say whatever makes you feel better, since you are obviously better than many of us. In the meantime I'll be enjoying real life outside of a computer.

Thanks for a purely negative experience. BTW ching chong is a little racist.

I thought the point of this was to learn and share stories and experiences.
It is. Everyone who LEARNED about these "turbos" has SHARED why they are junk. All you need to do is search.

If you are truly "less fortunate", take up fishing. It's cheaper.

I don't know man that gear... You wanna make sure to get the best... Don't buy thode eBay poles or reels... And I'm actually not less fortunate, I'm not on welfare... I'm just still learning about these cars, and I'm not in a position to dump 10k into this car. ###it I'm over this. I've read and searched, first hand experiences, I'd say most of what ive read had good luck from them. Most of it is friend of a friend bullshit. And like I've also read, other people get pissed because they paid 3x for a turbo that could blow anytime too..

So anyways, (to the people who are here to share/Learn). I'm going to buy the eBay CX racing turbo intercooler radiator kit, but buy a used real turbo and BOV, then I will use and compare the CX turbo (which they claim is made in Cali) as back up. But I'm sure there will be more shittalking about that desision too.

Well, gotta go.. Fishing has been good lately

If all you want to read is stuff that supports your "argument", that's fine. Enjoy your unbalanced, QA lacking, Chinese built POS. :)
