I am wanting to ship off my transmission to either Jacks or TMZ. I have been shopping around and either service seems good to me.

I am however having a really hard time trying to get responses to emails or phone calls from both places. I can imagine these shops are busy but it makes me a bit nervous before I've even sent my transmission in, that I am not even getting any sort of responses or feedback.

Just want to know if this is normal? If anyone has had first hand experience with either of these shops, I would appreciate to know how your experience has been.

Also because I have an evo 1 transmission I was asking if there were any differences other than gear ratios that I need to be worried about or if it would change the price at all.

I have done business with Jacks, but only bought parts and they were good to work with and quick shippers. Tim at TMZ is a wizard with manual transmissions, building his own to hold somewhere around 1000 hp I believe. They are both good shops but both are very busy too. I had a question about 3 weeks ago and emailed Jacks but never got a return so I would say call them. Same with TMZ if they have a number posted. That was my experience.

You could definitely PM him. Twick69 is Tim. Kind of strange you're having that much trouble getting ahold of either one. Last winter I was going back and forth with the guys from Jacks because I was planning on doing business with them for my trans. Only took a day or two for them to get back from my original email.

I personally know Tim, I only lve about an hour or so away from him. He may be a little more difficult to get ahold of. Hes a one man show building transmissions out of a two car garage that is PACKED with transmissions and parts. Not to mention another project car hes doing for a friend of his. Plus all that with a family, hes a pretty busy guy. You definitely need to get ahold of him first though, he was a few months out on turn around time when I called him to do my transmission. So if time is a factor for you perhaps Jacks might be a little better? Im not sure how their turn around times look though.

Just keep trying to get ahold of both of them. Here is the Email I was using to get ahold of the guys at Jacks Jacks Transmissions LLC Maybe its the same as the one you're using maybe its different. Good luck!

Tim's usually pretty fast with getting back to you. Amazingly fast, like I feel like he neglects his family sometimes to answer my questions :) He's an awesome guy, gets the details right, has no issues answering a thousand questions (just don't waste his time please if you're not actually asking for a purchase from him). Just a terrific vendor overall and really takes care of your needs. I am gushing because I'm a very happy customer of his and in the DSM world that's hard to be with how so many vendors shit all over us. I can't recommend him enough for your transmission work.

I didn't think that Jacks was working on DSM transmissions any more?

I got my transmission done as a "stage 1 basic" rebuild but I just checked and it doesn't look like there are options for "stage1/2/3/4" like last year in august just "Drag and RR" build options BUT my rebuild from JACKS was great until my motor CW'd LOLs.

Pretty sure they're still working on DSM transmission's but only if you're to ship or deliver the transmission to them. I believe what they've done away with is the removal and installation transmission service for DSM's at their shop.

My overall experience with jacks has been good. I have approx 2000 miles on my trans and it shifts just as good as it did the day i installed it.

Communication was excellent.

Attention to detail during dis-assembly and assembly is phenomenal. If anything is out of order during dis-assembly from the most obvious right down to the threaded case bolt holes you'll be notified of it.

Shipping only took 2 days

The turn around time from jacks is pretty fast. With exception to mine because I just "had" to have a front LSD that happened to be on back order. even with that hiccup they still had it back to me with in a month and a half.

Wow.. thanks for all the responses guys.

I am eager to get my swap done. I want a stage 3 with LSD (Tim) or one of Jack's new packages with the LSD. I know both shops do great work, I trust that. I am just sitting here in the middle of both shops with my money in hand and no one answering e-mails / phone calls to get the ball rolling to ship my tranny away.

I'll try PM'ing Tim. I completely understand that this is their busy time.. I was quite dumb for waiting for so long to start working on getting my tranny out. I've tried calling him a few times and left a voicemail, no response so far.

Haven't I responded to your emails??? You sent to [email protected]. I know I answered several regarding Evo 1 transmissions lately.

As an fyi, even though my hours on the website are limited I normally work over 80 hours a week as well as having a family to take care of. I have been difficult to get a hold of by phone for a couple months as the phone has been ringing off the hook heavily and I cannot always return every phone call, otherwise nothing gets done here and transmissions don't get completed.
