Man that color is amazing! Wish I had a brother that did paint and body work.
Engine coming out perhaps?
I might have missed it earlier in the thread, but what compressor and gun did you guys use? Awesome looking paint!

Waaaay late to this thread but holy shit man, loved all of the pictures! She looks great
what color did you use to paint your trim? any prep work or tips with that?

Lots of old cars. Brings back memories of living in the Bay Area (back when I owned a '61 bubble top).I removed the back glass like you. was fairly easy with a heat gun. as far as the rear hatch did you pop that trim off also? And what about the front wind shield upper trim on the top? did you take that out or just taped around the rubber strip? Sorry for all the questions but I'm currently doing the something as you did. Vet inspirational
Glad you can appreciate it pimp!Looks even better in person #bassboat
Very nice Ted. One of these days I'll get the 1g track car painted.[DOUBLEPOST=1405621429,1405619585][/DOUBLEPOST]I want to see photos of the car with the spokes on it. I also saw shots that looked like a 1960 Impala, a 66, and a 1959 Impala test car.Lots of old cars. Brings back memories of living in the Bay Area (back when I owned a '61 bubble top).
Really nice job man making me rethink having the car being done think im going to do some more body work, for next years shootout.

Almost all back together, but at this point it was ready for a cut and buff. You must be logged in to view this image or video. You must be logged in to view this image or video.
My brother was not available due to having another high paying project taking his time, so a good friend experienced in the field donated 2 days of his time. He went over it lightly and got rid of all the surface dirt and this is the last polish the car saw. There is still TONS of material left for a second wetsand and buff, which will be done here soon.

My brother showed up to check up on my buddy Tony. I trust Tony 110% but my brother was concerned since he hasnt seen what Tony can do. In the end Tony earned his confidence from my brother, but I dont blame him for being worried. One screw up on the detailing and out the window goes all our hard work. You must be logged in to view this image or video.

After two long days of work, Tony did a great job on the detailing. I cannot thank him enough for his hard work. On top of that, the hard work that my brother Angel did. Did I mention this was all done out of the garage? Show quality work out of a garage? Never heard of it.....
Then comes the fun part. My buddy Robert De Luna who has taken many pictures of my car volunteered for the photo shoot.
Being the ballsy mofo that I am, I decided to drive the car out to the shoot loction, 20 minutes away. On top of that, we got stuck in traffic for 45 minutes on the way back.
Here is a link to the photoshoot that day.

Since the paint job, the car has made it into GearBox Magazine and the full story is in this issue.

On top of the coverage from GearBox magazine, my understanding of body work and paint has grown. Not only that, but the appreciation for color care has elevated.
There are many draw backs to a paint job of this caliber. Working on the car has become a HUGE challenge. I can't toss tools around or lean on the car like I used to. Even with all my built in padding, I still run the risk of putting a slight dent or wave in the sheet metal. Not many people understand this, so think twice next time you lean on your car or someone elses.
Thanks man. I never got along with my brother until now. Seems that all we needed was to work on a project together so we could understand each other like friends, instead of family (oldest brother and youngest brother).
