I've been feeling under the weather for the past couple weeks. If all is well, I will be at Sacramento this Sunday for CMI.Glad I came across this thread. Its awesome to see the process of painting this car. I am proud to see this show-quality work coming from the bay-area. I would love to this DSM in person. When is the next show that you are bringing the car to?
Gorgeous work!! Was great to see the process. It really makes you appreciate the amount of work that goes into body work.
That would be my 1G.I just put one and one together, your the 1g on youtube that smashing on pretty much anything; the one that ran that 300zx like from a 100 roll? Dude im been in love with this car since you were still a manual, never knew you were in Cali. Let me know when you head to Sac 1/4, ive been meaning to try it out on my 2g.
Not sure yet. The tails were kind of a trial run, but they came out ok. A little dirt on them, but nothing intolerable.Great job!! Are you going to wet sand and buff it?
We used some of the black base coat for the top and put some in the clear coat my brother had left over. Turned out pretty good for a something quick.^thats what i did on my center tail, night shade is cool when it's not over done. Looks good ted.

I frequent Sacramento Raceway quite often. I am looking at actually heading down to Fontana to race next year, since it is opening back up.

I have never used nightshade, but I'd imagine its the same concept as using clear coat and adding a couple drops of black. Then you can cut and buff it easily, as mentioned above.

From what other experienced body men have told me they usually prime, block, prime, block, until the body is to their liking. Apparently my brother did it the hard way with bondo, blocking as smooth and flat as can be, then metal glazing, then blocking, then prime, block, prime, block, prime, block. So he added a few extra steps in there, but it was his way, and I was just along for the grunt work.Wow. This has got to be the best looking DIY/garage paint job ive ever seen. One question though, was that "metal filler" similar to spot putty or bondo? Ive never actually seen someone coat full panels with body filler. Either way, the results look fantastic!
