FPHTA88 killed by faulty intake filter...

Get it rebuilt, I'm sure FP will give you a fair price :)

Thanks for posting up what kind of air filter it was. I'm not a big fan of APC anything but now it's good to know they aren't reliable options.

That almost scares me considering I bought this cheap ass filter from autozone so that I had one to fit my FP 4inch intake since I didn't know the right part number for the 4in KandN.

If you're gonna try to save a few bucks on performance parts, the filter is definitely not a place to do it. I've had & seen cheap ebay/apc/autozone filters fall apart enough times to know that an intake filter is really one fo the places you should pay a couple bucks more for.

No problem, I moved the car (drove it) up onto the trailer and brought the car home. So far i have drain oil and coolant out, removed radiator, hoses, manifold, turbo, wastegate, FMIC piping, bov, gm maf-t.

There was alot of flacky metallic looking pieces in the gm maf-t and all the the IC piping all the way up to the TB elbow thats pretty much as far as i looked due to running out of sunlight.

(side note* i may be deploying to iraq, possibly still not 100% yet) but car is not going to be back together for awhile in any case.

FP will more than likely receive the turbo beg. of decemeber time frame.

Also turbo did not boost AT ALL moving it up and off the trailer kept making this really really loud WOOOOOO (ghost sounding from the movies) noise and was basically all motor feeling LOL. Soo yeah. Just an update.

Try not to drive the car with the turbo in that condition. All it takes is a couple of those metal particles off the compressor wheel to completely destroy your engine OMG

It was only on the trailer and then off. Damage was already done anyway. I plan on pulling plugs tomorrow to see if theres any "shiny" pieces of the wheel or what not on them.

Got ya. I thought you were driving around town trying to build up boost with a "modified" turbo LOL
