Where can I find Drag Radials for the stock 16" rim ?

or is there something else I can do?
I picked up some 15" wheels to mount some slicks on too....but I want something for the street. Who carrys DR's that will fit? anybody?

www.retreadsunlimited.com Look under high performance Z rated tires. These are softer than DR's, get about the same mileage, but only cost 1/2 as much. I had em on my FWD a while back. Car went 12.80@109 on a small 16G, 1.98 60'.

I currently have them on my AWD car. 157k mile stock suspension, 1.59 60's :D

OMG Thats one hell of a 60ft for a 12 second GST, what other mods where on your FWD?

The FWD only had a small 16G, RRE FMIC, Walbro 255, UIC pipe, 550's, AFC, TMO Stg. 3, AGX shocks (rear only), retreads, 3" garbage exhaust.

It was nothing special. I wish I knew then what I know now. I know I could have gotten a LOT more mph and gone a LOT faster with the mods that were on the car. But, oh well. I'm working on another DSM. Want to see how cheap I can be and still run 11's (using an FP Green).

Those really work good? I have never seen Drag radials that look like that. I dont know if I can trust them....can you give a little more Insight?
How well do they do on the street?

Also, anyone else have some other suggestions? I want to keep my options open.

I run the Falken Azenis Sport Z rated Radial. Wide tread paturn coupled with its soft compound hook great I can launch at 5K and hookOMG If I launch @ 3500 like my old set up I bog big time.

Shifting gears slightly...

I have a couple questions about this because I am new in this area:

I've never heard of retreading...and it seems really cheap. Why don't more people buy tires for the track from here?

If I were to purchase a set of these tires from http://www.retreadsunlimited.com/ , I would want to go with 15" rims in the front if possible. Would this be ok? I have stock 92 brakes still. What I'm asking is, can I run 15" rims in the front with slicks and my stock 16" with all seasons in the back?

Lastly, if I were to aquire 15" rims, what tire size would I purchase from http://www.retreadsunlimited.com/ ?

Thank you for any help.

if you are on a budget, what kind of rims are you going to find cheap to stick these 15" tires on? just find 2 stock rims off any DSM, and stick some 225/55/16's on there. I know the 15" tires are $39, but it won't be easy finding a 15x6 rim with a 5x114.3 bolt pattern. Ideally, you want the widest possible tire and the tallest sidewall for 1/4 mile racing. You WANT sidewall flex. Not going to get any with a 40 or 45 profile tire.

Not many people get these because they aren't very popular. They aren't a name brand, and you don't always get a matching set. You can try to request that they match, but don't always get them. most people are too concerned about name brand and matching tires. i've got 3 different "brands" of retreads on my car. The tread is the same, but the core tire is different. I don't give a rats ass what my tires read, i care more about what the 60' time on my timeslips read (which currently stands at 1.59).

Sure, a non turbo steelie rim is 15". However, they also weigh like 25lbs each. Couple that with a 29lb retread tire, you are looking at close to 55lbs per corner, which will SUCK up hp like nobody's business. Find a light 16" turbo rim.

larry,
YOu got any performance #'s to back up your statements? Or do we just trust your "opinion" of them? I'm sure the fellow interested would like some emperical data to back up a recommendation. Hell, I could recommend my house brand tires on my old laser. They can go 80k miles. I've cut numerous 2.1 60's on them, over 250 passes at the track, 35k miles. That 2.1 is better that 95% of drag radial users get. Should he get some of those?

If you can justify WHY he should get them, then please share the info. I'm not bashing or flaming, just asking for data to back it up.

What are the lightest stock 16" dsm rims? I have the 1g 5spoke 16" rims. I think they are heavy. I thought they were over 20 lbs a piece. Is there a lighter stock wheel i can find because I'm going to find two more rims to put the tires on.

I have some 15" V6 mustang wheels that I picked up for slicks. But I am considering slapping some Drag radials on there instead depending If I can find some that hook or not. I am also considering the Falken Azenis...but I just cant imagine these things hooking up on the street. I used to have a Saturn on Nitrous...(yes, you read correctly ) that had some good Kumho 711's on there and those things spun horribly when I hit the spray...I dont see how the falken could be that much better, especially since my Gs-t is a hell of a lot quicker.

on my old set up it was a 2.0, but I havent taken it to the track with the Azenis tires yet. But like I said these hook better than my old Yokahama Parada Spec 2's. And I was Getting consistant 2.1, and 2.0's on those. I'll take it to the track here in a week or two and post my time slip. I'll also post a thread for the fastest times on drag/ street radials today. Also for $108.00 each they aren't badly priced either.

Would Hoosier Drag Racing slicks in size: 24.5x9.0-13 be a good choice? This is for a high HP Eclipse (turbotalon92's old car). 480+whp. He ran MT 26x8-15's and they weren't enough he said. The Hoosiers seem to be a better slick. Any thoughts?? I ask b/c I can get a really good deal on these for the car.

honestly on the streets my falkens have really good grip, the softness (although grabbing every stone in sight) grabs every little spec of clear pavement as well and i only get the slightest wheelspin in 1st on the streets at 17 psi on a 14b.

You think they would work with a Big 16g with the same amount of boost?
I picked up some Retreads, I think I am just gonna run those on my stock wheels.
