Just wondering when you fwd guys are breaking axles. I've ran a 7.7 in the 1/8th and I've had good luck so far but I'm throwing on my T-67 and expect to be going a wee bit faster than usual. I have slicks and not sure what rpm I'll need to launch at yet but I'll figure that out. My main concern is breaking axles at a much faster speed. I'm also wondering if I should swap to equal length shafts like the awd guys have for safety reasons. I can only imagine doing a 6.9 or faster pass and break that long left shaft. I don't wanna go slamming into a wall. Just curious to see where you guys are at before you start constantly breaking shafts. Especially with slicks.

My car is also gutted pretty good so I'm sure that having less weight helps versus having some chrome 22's on it. Lol.

Wheel hop is usually what causes havoc on the driveline. Since you have slicks, and good motormounts you should be pretty solid. I would just make sure you slip the clutch V.S dumping.. You prob. already know that ... just figured I would put it out their.

I would have to agree that wheelhop should be your biggest concern. If it starts to hop, get off the gas. I personally put a little preload on the drivetrain first, then a quick slip. I agree, that dumping the clutch would just be a bad idea.

Yeah, I don't have the wheelhop, and I've launched at about 5k. I know that slipping the tires a lil off the line would be better than gripping 100% cause of the shockload. I'd just think that at some point, the power would be way too much. I mean I'm racing at the dragstrip. Trying to come outta the hole like a granny won't do too well for trying to get good times. I know those aftermarket axles are made for a reason...but dang they're expensive.

You can go quite awhile on the stock axles as long as they are the factory mitsu axles not the reman ones. I have broken them on street tires with not that much power and I have broken them between a hard 1st to 2nd gear shift. If I was you upgrading to the equal length half shaft is a good idea. It also helps out with the torque steer. Just remember don't dump the clutch, let the tires spin a little out of the hole, and no wheel hop.

Well, with the slicks, I'm not getting torque steer but I'm sure that if one broke, I'd probably be in the wall if I didn't let off right away. On the street and with street tires, I don't race cause it's so impossibly hard to keep straight that it's a joke. I've raced a motorcycle but that was because we started out with him behind me and he was trying to catch up....but didn't :)

preload.. you will be OK.

LSD helps tremendously with AXLE LIFE.

GOODLUCK.
