Ha, it's a little scary in the car... get it in 4th and pray, seems like an eternity though i know its not there for very long the end of the track can't come soon enough.

Ive got a couple things up my sleeve, may have another go at it here in the coming week. Weather is forecasted for perfection.

Congratulations! I know that has to feel good, as we've been coming close to breaking into the 9's as well with a stock 6 bolt.

Can you post a mod list for the car (sorry if I missed it somewhere)? Is the car legal for 9 second passes? How about some pics of the engine bay and interior? Congrats again on a very nice looking car as well.

The front of the cage needs to be added on to make it legal, along with a window net. It'll have to be done before I take it to the local track.

Anyway, awesome timeslip duder. I know there's plenty of people out there that can't even run those times on a "built" motor. Much less a "stock" motor. If I can run that time on a built motor, trust me when I say I'll be giddy like a school girl. But would love to see interior pics as well. Guessing you no longer have the back seats and stock front seats? Door panels? Time to update that gallery page on STM's website. Stock fuel tank or fuel cell?

Hope you make it faster next time out. Sure gives ME hope with mine....although mine is a very slow work in progress thanks to lack of funds.

It's not awful, just not up to the rest of the cars standards I suppose. lot of wiring is gone/tucked. I got 20 lbs out of the dash harness alone. Just ran out of time before the shootout, mine is always the last to get ready. Not to mention work is always crazy when we get back, so I haven't had time to do much with it....

Im not one of the big boys because I won't put 3 transmissions or motors in it a year, I could never afford it. I break something major, it's down for the year. I'd like to go eights and make 800+whp, but it's a full time job with a full time paycheck keeping a dsm in that range. It's at the point where it still breaks, just not everytime it goes out. Hell, the car started going 10's in 08, I've owned it since 01....it's still a work in progress.

I wouldn't consider ya one of the big boys because of how quickly you can replace the parts you break, but because of the times ya run, when it runs. Mine was just down for a year and a half cause the motor spun a rod bearing. I put in a salvage yard motor to get it running cause the motor I'm building is taking FOREVER to save for. Buuuut, the salvage yard motor just put a rod through the back of the block. So I'm in the same boat there. However I haven't put down a 9 second timeslip....yet. So if anything you're one of the big boys compared to me. Lol.

Wow congrats on an awesome run! The car looks beautiful. If u don't mind can u pm me how much it cost to have the tubular core support done. STM is six hours away but my core support is almost completely rusted out from the New England winters.

It was cool finally getting to meet you face to face at the SO, and I appreciate the support on my end. I totally feel the whole "if I break, I'm down for the year" thing. I'm in the same position. I would love to step it up with the quick boys, but just don't have the $ to do so. Until then I may do the smart thing that you are doing and work on free modifications like wieght reduction to help out. Lord knows I need it at over 3200lbs..

What's the deal with the single DSS axle? Did you used to have a set and broke one?

Nope, I only got the one. After going through a half a dozen stockers on the drivers side, I figured something had to be done. Still have a bunch of passenger side axles piled up, as I've never broken one on that side, contacted dss and purchased the one and haven't had a problem since. The addition of a staging brake certainly is a contributing factor as well...but the car has always been about minimalism.

I was happy and pulling for ya, it's something we all should get to experience, and your car was on point all weekend and it was deserved. To me, it's not about the car that holds together for a pass or two and skates to the finals with a bunch of by runs, but the one that is consistent, stays together and gets the shit kicked out of it. Part of me regretted not running that class this year, i really loved doing so, but I did what I wanted to do....soooo maybe it'll be back for next year.

At this point, getting the weight out of your car can only help it in every way and should be your #1 priority....so do work!
