If I'm wanting to make a decent everyday drive car where should the upgrades stop and how much horsepower should I push and what should my PSI be set at after adding aftermarket parts?

i would say a nice happy goal for a lot of people would be 300-350 whp. That is alot for a gst! You will spin the wheels a lot enless you want to spend money on new diff and what not and playing with tires and suspension things to try and get the most from it. Also i agree with the above post and cant stress it enough make sure you do all the maintenance first! That is mod number 1 ALWAYS. Do all new timing components oem or better, no ebay make sure to do the waterpump while your there and either eliminate the balance shafts or buy a good belt and keep an eye on it. I would say to check it every other oil change enless, you think something could have happened. The balance shaft belt loves to kill these engines! Do yourself a favor and get a good boost leak tester too, your gonna need it. Once you have done all this then start talking about adding power, it will make people want to help you a lot more on this site if you do that first thing.

The T25 will be a fine turbo for a DD. I'm upgrading to an Evo 3 16g because most people say that the 16g is a perfect DD turbo. But depending on your budget, an intake, exhaust, and a new blow off valve will be perfect. But I wouldn't recommend any serious performance mods without first addressing maintenance issues. :thumb:

a t25 is hard to get even 300whp out of it most have maxed it out around 260ish whp thats not much more than stock LOL. It does deppend on what your goal is though.

That is very true, but if you didn't want to up the boost or power from stock, I'm sure the t25 will be fine.
well the op said where should hp stop and where should upgrades stop. So you know he wants to make more power then stock. We all know that a stock setup is gonna be your best daily driver, and that you can simply get a good solid tune on it without changing anything except the ability to tune the car. Doing this will make make more power from it then they did from the factory, so we know that isnt what he is doing. Im not here to argue but that is how I see things.

Making good reliable street power, requires a good base to start from, so make sure [if it has not been done already] to do all the maintenance first, like the, timing belt, cooling system flush, spark plug change, oil and filter change, fuel filter and air filter replaced
[or recharged if K&N reusable filter is on your car].

And now a parts list for you.

1. Dsmlink v3 [lite or full].
2. innovate lc1 or lc2 wide band gauge.
3. tdo5h mhi big evo 3 16g turbo.
4. 3inch exhaust system.
5. evo 8-9, or walbro 190 lph fuel pump.
6. mk4 supra side mount inter-cooler.
7. 1g blow off valve, or good after-market unit.
8. 1gb turbo throttle body or evo 8-9 throttlebody. [optional].
9. evo 8 -9 560cc injectors.
10. manual or electronic boost controller.
11. upper inter-cooler piping
All of this should cost you around $1000-$1500 and you should be able to make somewhere in the
300-360ish hp range, when all tuned right.

Ok so I bought a 99 spyder gs with a 2.4l for $700 with 117000 miles and I was going to fix that up which is my profile pic but I just bought a 95 gst with the 4g63t for $500 with 103000 miles so I'm going to do a full maintenence to completely stock and when I fix 2 leaks in the spyder I'm going to sell for $3000 to use for aftermarket parts and possibly paint. I do want to upgrade the gst as far as intercooler, cold air intake, bigger turbo, suspension, clutch, and maybe just maybe a LSD. Will all of this be able to push over 300 horsepower while still being a good and reliable dd?

Oh and is CX Racing a good and reliable brand when is comes to there turbos?
with cx racing turbos...it's pretty much hit and miss, a friend of mine bought one, and it never worked right, he didn't even get 1 good pull, and it had shaft play and an oil leak right after removing it to inspect it, as you can imagine the company would not refund him or exchange the defective unit ether, even though he paid shipping and sent it back.

I have heard a select few guys on these boards have had good success stories to tell about the knock off turbos, but I have so far seen a bunch of failed ones in reality.

I'd opt for a real mhi big evo 3 16g Turbo.
the ebay exhaust housings are just about the only thing I might consider saving from a knock off turbo, otherwise don't waste the time.
