Just bought a All White 97 GST a few days ago...and i'm starting to purchase all my pieces. Hoping to achieve somewhere around the 400whp range, its not my DD this time around thankfully, so let me know if you see any pieces missing or if you have any advice on mistakes i may be making.

-Going to purchase a FP3052 Turbo, Tial 44mm WG with Evo3 Manifold and 3'' Downpipe on sunday
-Also need to buy a FMIC And ECMlink/Eprom
-Just purchased 950cc Injectors, 4'' Intake, Aeromotive AFPR, and MTX-L WB
-Car came with a 255LPH pump. currently using a 16g, SAFC2 and 550cc injectors, all of which i plan to sell afterwards
-Car came with a turbo timer and a AEM tru boost
-I would like to Stick with the stock IM, bottom end, and Cams
-I live in CA, so i get the lovely 91 octane pump gas. I do not want to deal with E85, so it seems im stuck on pump/race gas
-I plan to do a conservative tune as i'd rather the car be safe than achieve a certain dyno # and be on the risky side

So what do you guys think? Sound like a decent build?
Any advice or input is greatly appreciated :D

I would get fp exhaust manifold, 1000cc injectors, dsmlink and don't forget your maitanance.Aslo full 3 inch turbo back exhaust and 3 inch high flow cat becuase california sucks. Also ditch the turbo timer, and I would get the gt3076.Everything else sounds good. Also I don't know how many miles on your car but 400hp range is ganan stress the stock block. You will also need act 2600 clutch and lighter flywheel. Also some springs and retainers and gsc s2 cams.

Cali emissions. Wanna rethink what you recommend? Your on the right track. I will give my opinion soon. Im sure there are others that are familiar with cali that will jump in too.

You recommend him a DSM flange manifold and a regular 30R, when the FP3052 he is already buying is nothing but a 3076R with a bolt on housing.

Anyways, get a very good FMIC, 1000cc injectors, quality clutch, make sure the fuel pump is rewired, and honestly, i'd throw some cams in it.

What's the deal with Cali?
Not only do you have to pass a sniffer test here, but the state has extremely strict policies and forces the privately owned shops to run a visual inspection too. The shops are afraid to test anything that isn't stock appearing because they could lose their emissions testing license. The state sends out undercover cars to these shops to make sure they're following the state mandate from time to time.

And that's just the regular emissions testing that comes around like clockwork. There's also the fear of getting pulled over and having the cop ask you to pop your hood. If it looks like you've got aftermarket parts under the hood, they could send you to the dreaded "state ref" - the state's testing facility... you might as well put the car back to stock before you show up there.

Bottom line is, the more stock appearing you are, the better here in Cali. There's an all out war on the aftermarket here. Thankfully, we have the SEMA Action Network fighting to keep our hobby alive:

Those where just options of stuff to get how or what u get that will match up is to the op.

He said it's not a daily driver so if he runs emmisions I woulnd't waste time with to many mod's he most likley will need do things like cams to reach his goal.So if he plans more of a daily driver then he thought he might wanna look in a different direction otherwise go all out.

Problem is, even if the car is not a daily driver it still has to be registered and emissions tested if he plans to drive it on the street. And since he didn't call it a dedicated track car, I'm pretty sure he plans to register it for street use. He'll still run into the same issues. Most people who say it's not a daily driver still plan on building a street car.

Yea so might as well not really do to many mods then yea?I mean 400whp on pump gas with fp30 1000cc fmic link i guess but seems resticted for emmissions and can't even really drive it without thought of cop can pop your hood I guess I came out anti cali on this post but just wanna make sure he gets whats he wants.

The first thing i would do is a compression test. You want a healthy motor before you go for 400 ponies.

And the california thing is a joke, they give you tickets for having an intake pipe. Its ridiculous. And after the ticket, you have to put the car back to stock and if you don't and they catch you again, the ticket doubles in most cases.

Thanks for the advice, i will definitely look into that asap. I thankfully have a loophole to avoid this cali BS :) im active duty and stationed in Coronado so I am gonna register the car in New Hampshire (my state of residence) so im gonna avoid smog :) and I already bought 950cc injectors I am thinking that will be enough for my goal. And the fp3052 is a local used buy for cheap so changing turbos isn't an option. Thank you all for the input I really appreciate the help

I agree ludachris I am pretty shocked by how strict they are here It makes me wonder how anyone with cali plates ever modifies their car its like a Car Modification prohibition here

Also has a boost and narrow band gauge

That's crazy what justification do they have restricting your rights.
Isn't one basic right to seek your own happiness?
The country disappoints me.

But wouldn't live any where elce

so why do you not want to mess with e85 especially for a car that is not a daily driver? You could make close to 400 if not 400 with that 16g and e85

I just purchased a fp3052, so i think i should be able to make 400whp on a mixture of pump and race gas, they have a station thats not to far from me that sells 110octane, i'm hoping to just do a mixture of that. I don't believe my 950cc injectors would be big enough to run e85 effectively

Thats true I think you need around 1000CC or so injectors just to be able to run e85 efficiently. I plan to make my 400whp build using a e316g with ports and cams. Shouldn't be too hard. Keep your thread updated or make a build thread.
