Ok, so i got my car dynoed and tuned today by AMS (home of the world's fastest evo). They did a great job, however my car did not do so hot. List of mods:
EVO III b16g
SAFC 2
550 cc inj
FMIC
k&n intake
walbro 190 fp
(see the rest in my profile)

RESULT = 240 awhp

What the CRAP!?

Alright update on my car.......I finally got a chance to open things up to what's going on and I might have bad timing. I don't things are lined up correctly. Also, I saw in the receipt that AMS put the bpr7es plugs in so that's taken care of. I'm doing the boost leak test next week

It seems AMS should have enough knowledge to tell you that your car isnt running correct timing, whether you skiped a tooth or not. The loping cam sound is exactly what 1 tooth off timing sounds like.

right. they didn't say anything at all?

I was thinking about going to AMS, but I've been turned away by hearing they are really expensive. How bad was the price?

actually i liked AMS. They were working on my car for i'd say over 1.5 hours and i payed 195$ for new plugs and the dyno/tune. They were real nice and seemed to know what they were doing, and they were quick at what they did.

+1 Timing

Had the same prob.

Upgrading to a built head, MLS HG, ARPs WOrth the problem. I had the looping also sounded like cams also and a massive lose of power hella mods with a 57trim and ran a 14.2 that was a problem. so I'd say its your timing mang!

ok so my timing was a few teeth off, but it's perfectly aligned now and i'm gonna fire it up tomorrow

i'm calling them in the morning to see if i can get in for the dyno and tune again asap. yes it was off several teeth (like 2)

Ok fired her up and she purrs beautifully again. I took it for a spin and it felt great. I have an appointment for my car on the dyno again next friday, so hopefully i should be above 240 awhp :thumb:

I hope so and it should just be fine tuning almost from this point right? So maybe you will only be less than 1 hour. That would be nice.

I'm thinking my settings right now are close to where they should be because my intake cam was off a few teeth. Hopefully i can bump up the boost a few more pounds because i was misfiring at 20 psi with the bad timing

Don't you think your pushing it @20psi with your set-up?

Why? what do you think he's mising? Took a quick look at his profile & looks good to me :thumb: Only thing I can see is he might run out of room with the 550's ;) . I ran 18 psi last summer with basically the setup I have now except that was on a HRC SMIC. With the FMIC I plan to run 20 psi this summer if I ever get my EBC back from Greddy

Ah ha, he does have an AFPR. IDC should be fairly close though. I can't stand Greddy EBC.
