so i'm finally getting down to starting the steps to mod my car in two weeks ill have a evo III 16G with a install kit that a friend of mine is selling for a awesome price $350 its used and looks like it's still in good condition he found a guy that was parting out his gst i think he said it was a 97 or 98? he told me ill sell it to you for a good price so i check it out yesterday and it was legit i was reading on the forums all last nite for info on 16g's and i found some pretty useful info on the Serial numbers because i was worried that it was a nock off so the turbo match to a EVO III i gave the info to my friend and he said that the numbers was the same so I'm pretty happy with that.I always wanted a EVO III 16G and it was my lucky day I guess LOL so now before I start I know i need more stuff to complete the set up I wrote down a list so far what i needed what i read on here that i think i need

injectors 560cc
255lph Fuel Pump
cat back exhaust 3''
fimic not sure if my side mount will cut it  for this bigger turbo
upgrade bov from stock:thumb: bov going have it ''recirculate'' still because i read venting to atmosphere is bad:nono:
short ram intake & manual boost controller

what else would i need to bolt on the kit without having any problems? also would this be enough to run the 16g ? and what would the safe zone for the psi be to not push the car too hard I'm not chasing a big number i just want a 300-320hp mark and ill be happy :D

Get a fmic and get a boost gauge and wideband and don't forget you need something to tune with?I would recommend 650cc injectors for the 16g at that kind of hp goal, also recirc the bov also.Probably looking at 18-20psi for 300whp.

so 560cc wouldn't be enough i read it will be for the number hp I'm setting for bov yes I'm recic i already read about that on here

I think you could easily reach it if you had the tuning abilities or someone you know to do it and also a wideband and some argue a fpr for the 255 fuel pump

yeah i plan on upgrading the fuel pump. wideband i left that out thanks ill add that to the list what would be a good wideband to get for a good price ?

What are you planning on tuning with? If you go with ecmlink, then i would reccomend some 750cc injectors, just so you will have plenty of fuel. If on a safc 2, then 650 would be max. You have a 99, so you might want to look in the ecu flashing of the black box ecus which is what you have and forget about link or safc. It is hard to reccomend anything without some background of how you at least want to tune it.

As for fuel pump, you are going to need a afpr for the 255 as the pump will overrun the oem fpr. An afpr, is a fail at the visual for smog. So you might want to reconsider it. Evo 9 fuel pumps flow either right at that or a little less and you wont need a afpr. Thats a possiblity.

You would also need little things, like a boost gauge and make sure maintenance is good.

Other then those things, you would be looking at a wideband and youd be set for some fun and power. No more t2slow. Ha.

On my old 14b at 15psi with 550cc injectors I had 70% idc so 650cc's would be alot better but if you have like safc that's all you can get if you get ecmlink tunining run 750cc-1000cc, 1000's being max for pump gas size.

I run the aem wideband kit. I have it wired up to dsmlink as well but you wont need to do that. You will need a AFPR with the 255. But if your goal is less than 400, the wally 190 will be good for your goal and no need for afpr. As said above if you go safc than stay under 650cc but if you go dsmlink or chip than stay under 1600cc.

should i look into getting a evo 9 fuel pump ? didn't know it would work i have to read about it thanks for the info so the afar will not pass smog ?

They work good and are quite they flow around 200lph. My friend has one in her 2g gsx with big 16g at 19 psi and holds up fine.

i would like to stay under or be right at 650cc i was looking at the dsmlink pretty pricey $$$ the higher the injectors the more the price goes up

do you know how much they run ?

The main thing to do is to figure out what your going to tune with. If you go safc route you will be limited till you get ecmlink. If your refereing to the price of the evo 9 pump just search around and find a used one prices vary I have seen them giving to people for free or up to like $100 and inbetween.

If your getting the 16g and install kit. You could install it with everything else being stock.

But I would honestly wait on the fuel system until you can run link. Rewire the stock fuel pump for $20 and pick up a mbc + boost gauge.

Then with a logger you can slowly up the boost while watching for knock and keeping your idc's under 95%. Which ever comes first, then back down slightly 1 full psi.

You could still buy an ebay intake and 3" exhaust or save for link. But once you have link then larger fuel pump and injectors will be no problem. No tuning = no larger injectors.

That will allow you to have the most fun for the lowest price and you wont be buying any parts that you cant use or dont need.

i don't know anything about tuning to be honest still a newbie so what if i got it tune at a shop would that be ok or would that be more in price $$$ then the ecmlink or dsmlink ? ill serch for a used evo 9 fuel pump

Look in our classifieds section, you can find all sorts of deals in there.

Next, 560's will get you to your goals, do some research for yourself. A wally 190 will do you good too, I'd personally go 255 though. You can flash your ecu which was mentioned above, it's your best bet on tuning. Do some research on it to find out more, and lastly your sidemount shall be alright, you can get a hahn racecraft large sidemount if you want to stay with the "sleeper" look, If not go fmic for price and performance. Also yes you will need a wideband, innovate Mtx-l or Lc-1 are by far the best for price in my opinion. Searching is your best friend on this site.

As clipto said, they do exatcly as he said. I have a 255 with an afpr and everytime i go to smog, i need to remove mine and use the stock injectors and fpr. The afpr wont pass smog, visually. Sniffer test, it will, but they will fail it visually.

I suggested the evo 9 pump, because the flow more the 190lph, but they dont whine as loud as the 255 and a afpr is not required.

Dsmlink is pricey, but if when you get it, you are able to adjust what injectors you are using when you get into it. Like i was running 1250cc for e85, but i ended up switching for some 580s and i just changed it in link. The dsmlink wiki would help explain it. I think you could order link for the 450cc and then just change it as you upgrade. Did you go to ecmtuning to get it?

You have to have a tuning device to get a tune. ECMlink is a chip. You send your ecu into them and thell make it eprom. Youll probably think the prices are steep. The safc you can find around 150 on here. But i was in your shoes once and got the safc then later upgraded to dsmlink. The safc is a bit restricive.

ok so i could run the 16g on everything stock and plus a upgrading fuel pump for now ? and keep everything down low would that harm the engine or turbo ?

Since you are lucky and have the flashable ecu, thats what i would use. Its the cheapest and gains good results. Plus, its just like reflashing the ecu and copying evo fuel maps and stuff, so you could do that yourself. Just look into it. Try getting an account on the evo forums. They sometimes give them free there.

Sure you can run it on the stock fuel system, but dont be suprised if it feels slower then the t25. These turbos dont really start waking up til 15 psi. I would wait and put it all on as once and do it right.

Check this link out. This will help you with your decision on injectors and pumps.

wow slower then the t25 that's crazy well i wanted to do all at once anyways or half way done with all the mods at lease . would it be still slow if i had the 3'' exhaust and upgraded fuel pump and fmic and bigger injectors with out a tune ?

yeah i want the sleeper look but i kind of like the front mount style too i want to get a black front mount to blend in with my car i didn't know that the smic would hold up for the 16g thats pretty cool that would save a little money and get the fmic later

yeah i just check it out still deciding what should i do

will a eBay exhaust be good enough for what I'm doing guys ? I'm trying to save as much money as i can and put more money into the important parts i might try to save for the dsmlink since everyone recommend it

Find a better price and we'll beat it!

thanks for that info what if i keep the boost at stock psi ? not sure what that is some people say its 9psi and some on here say its 11psi anybody know what the psi stock pounds are ?

Well if you were planning on putting the turbo on at the stock boost setting, it will feel laggier and not make much power. Youre t25 would feel faster. Ha. That is why i suggest putting it all at one and getting it tuned. If you put those mods on you mentioned (injecotrs, pump, fmic etc...), it would all depend on how much boost, afr's, if theres no knock, timing and various other things. You cant really just throw those parts on and it automatically be faster. Now with those parts, you can make it faster. But with a wideband, you should be able to turn the boost up a bit and run it a bit leaner then stock. But like i said, it all comes down to tunning.

As for fmic, i would reccomend it. The smic will heat soak so fast especially when you have the boost turned up. For a good fmic and youre power goals, a vrsf would work perfect and at a cheap price. Check them out. Of course an expensive one would be great, but isnt necessary. If you are interested in one, try ets, but theyre pricey.

Ebay exhaust would be ok. Piping is piping. Haha. Just make sure its a true 3 inch and get a good dp and o2 dump tube (recirculated or vented). Also, you will need to make sure the 16g is ported. Or else boost creep will be a huge issue.

The fule pump looks good, i still think it might be cheaper elsewhere, on the evo forums, but make sure you get the whole kit as well that comes with it, if you decide.
