Finally was able to get the 16g to run in the 11's. :D

The first run was with my boyfriend driving a few weeks ago. He ran an 11.7@116 with it, thus setting the bar for me, and working to improve the launch technique and shifting.

Last night we took it back out, and I was able to crack the 12-sec barrier! Went 11.92@117! The MPH is a new best for the car, too. I got over the nerves, and launched it off the 2-step to net a 1.81 60-ft, I did lift on a few gears, but manages to only drop to 60% throttle between 3rd and 4th. So that helped out considerably. !

So a few more times out and maybe I'll be able to match or best that 11.7. So close! I am just thrilled to see these times, truthfully. I never thought the car would run 11's on the 16g without gutting it.

Here's a video of the two runs:

Thanks!! :). I def want to keep pushing the current setup. As it is also helping me learn to drive better. Yesterday on one of the runs it spun so hard the car moved sideways! That was the first time I've experienced that in this one. So for me it's been fun learning how to handle a car with some power without going too crazy on the turbo setup. :)

Yes it does. It has fp2 272/272 cams and i am running it off of 110. It will run mid to low 12s on 93 around 18psi. (Thats what we ran it at drag week on)

Yup! The car's 11.7 was with a 1.79 60ft! The 1.8 was my best ever with it.... I had a hard time getting under the 2.0 range. Lol! So there is still room for improvement for sure. I was actually having some traction issues. I dont think i had the tire pressure low enough. (Dropped them from 32 to 26). So live and learn! :)

But thanks for the words of encouragement! Greatly appreciated!

The 1.6808 60ft my buddy ran was on 20psi in all four....don't be afraid to drop pressure much lower to get the traction you need. ;)

Congrats!

Start at 28 front and 26 rear and work down in pressure from there....

I shall keep that in mind for the next time! :)

I thought it was better to increase tire pressure with street radials.
For auto-x, higher is better. For drag racing, lower pressures help with spinning; even on street radials. Of course, can't drop them down as low as you can with slicks and such!

Congrats!

Thanks! You know, I was thinking about running higher in the front vs. the rear, since there's more weight up there, so thanks for the suggestion!!

Can you post a full mod list? Great job on those numbers!

Let's see if I can remember it all...
-evo316g
-megan racing o2 and downpipe, thermal RD exahust
-ETS Street FMIC, Tial BOV,
-DSMLink V3 on speed densisty, 4-bar map
-FP2 272/272 cams; titunium springs and retainers
-head was slightly ported and cleaned up; but nothing major. It was heat damaged pretty badly (came with a car I bought) and they have to take a ton of material off to get the warping out. I did make up for this by using a rather thick Cometic head gasket. However, I'd like to check the actual compression on this engine, as truthfully, I am not sure with these variables.
-engine was sent out, bored over .020, decked, line honed, rotating assembly balanced and all that good stuff.
-JE forged piston with the stock compression ratio (or so i think, see note above about the cylinder head) But it should be close to 8.5:1, as long as I did the math right.
-ARP head studs, rod bolts, ect.
-stock rods. (my biggest regret, but at the time I wasn't looking for something to make huge power, but wanted the extra knock protection the forged pistons provide)
-ACL bearings
-FP exhaust maniold and FP intake.

I think that's about it. There's really not anything to extravagant done to it, truthfully. Oh, I did have the transmission gone through, and am running an exedy 3-puck style clutch.

That's really impressive!!! Congrats
Thanks so much!! :)

11s on the 16g is always impressive good job. how much boost are you running max spike and at redline?

I know it says 25psi but we all know 16g can make 30 but don't hold much at redline

Just keep it up MB! As you see now, it just takes getting comfortable with being a little more aggressive with it and the times really improve, drive it like you stole it :p

We need to race at the SO next year :)

Good job, what tires?

LOL, it would be pretty close at this point in time! I'm sure you'll get me, though!
You are right, it really was a comfort level thing. Once I did one hard launch with it, kinda gets over that initial fear factor.

It does spike between shifts. I think I saw 28 or 29 at one point for a short snap. It holds 25 once it settles.
