I changed my leaky oil pan gasket not long ago and it is still leaking. I used red rtv as the gasket and ran a nice continuous bead around the whole pan making a circle around each bolt hole. I think the two mistakes I made were not waiting for the RTV to dry before putting the pan back on, and I think I tightened the bolts too much ( I ended up breaking one of them).
I'm gonna buy a torque wrench and make sure they are right this time... how much torque do the pan bolts require? How long should I let the RTV dry this time before putting the pan back on?

Is there any? Or do I just tighten them pretty good?

Never mind its 72 in/pounds..

Which is 6 ft/lbs.

i tighten them to whatever feels right and have never had a issue...

Alright cool..There a pain in the ass to change with a screwdriver and a socket I had to grind the socket so it would fit over the nuts.

I tried searching this site and vfaq, i could not find the answer. How many ft. lbs do you need to torque the pressure plate, and the flywheel as well. Should i use arp moly lube, or loctite??? sorry for the noob question i just need to know... thanks!!

does anyone have pictures of every tranny bolt in a 2g i cant seem to figure out how the one on the back by the motor mount works or if there even is one. i definitely didnt take one out but the tranny isnt sitting flush and i know better then to just let it go

actually can anyone just tell me where each bolt is and how many there are??

5 total. 2 in the front, 2 on top, and 1 in the back by the motor mount that threads into the transmission from the block side. The other 4 thread into the block from the transmission side.

this is a helpful site, it helped me on my install. Transmission Videos

I know my camera sucks but this may help some. I dont know the bolt sizes, the video i gave you tells you. All i remember is that the one in the back is a long skinny one. Hope this helps you let me know

idk maybe it is 60mm , didnt have the bolt out. Got my info from jacks transmissions install video. Now is that 60mm of thread or the whole bolt? You wouldn't want to bottom that thing out and torque it like that.

Only the last 20mm is thread. It does have both a flat and lock washer on it which take up about 4mm (so 56mm of bolt is used). I suppose a 55 or maybe even a 50mm will work though. Since the tranny is aluminum make sure you get as many threads into the tranny without bottoming out as possible (to prevent stripping). I have my tranny completely apart at the moment and measured these bolts which are original factory.

..the tranny isnt sitting flush and i know better then to just let it go
Just a thought. When I installed my tranny it wouldn't get flush either. It turned out to be the small water pipe support bracket (which is supposed to be held by one of the top tranny mounting bolts) rotating down between the tranny and block getting pinched there. Check this out.
