Is this possible? I am on a budget and wanting to get the most turbo setup for my money. I have read time and time again that I will just be disappointed with the internal on any turbo. Can the external wg be attached to the 2g mani at all?

MOD EDIT: Please keep "want-to-buy" adds and requests out of the Tech forums.

It can be done but it isn't pretty. It is almost guaranteed to crack unless it is welded properly. Pre-heating and cool down are very important when welding cast iron. You could go external on the O2 housing if you want to fab up your own.

Yes, and yes.

There is a moderator on here who has done it already. If I am correct I believe his name is 99gstracer. Send him a PM, he can tell you how he did it.

Hope this helps. Stay boostin

thanks for the info.... of course I have read all over the place that if I go with an internal w/g that I will be disappointed....true or not. Sorry to be a pain but the guy here at our local sped shop pfispeed, is talking up the t3/t4 style turbonetics stuff.. 60-1 hifi, external w/g, new manifold.... so when all is said and done my budget is shot to hell. I know the saying " built it right once" and Im not trying to skimp but my car cant be down for too long and I dont want to order parts then have to order something after the fact.

thanks

True! High boost and internal gates DON'T mix well. You will be able to control MUCH better going external.

You can have it done quick easily just send it out to a DSM Performance shop to have it done. DSM Motorsports did mine and it is excellent work

I hear everyone saying that you have to pre-heat the manifold and do "special" welding in order to weld it. However, when I did my, I used shec. 40 1.5 inch gas pipe from home depot and a mild steel flange and just used my 135 mig welder without pre-heating or any other step. It' has been on my car for a little over 2 years and never had 1 issue with. The weld look good IMO. I will take some pics of it today and post it.
