Sylvan Lake,
Hey guys,

After looking at a few different exhaust manifolds I've noticed some of them have an outlet on the top to mount a BOV (?) and some don't. What's the difference here? And in what circumstances would you need one or the other?

I'm going to be revamping my whole set up via Slowboy racing. I don't want to be the guy who orders all of his stuff off the internet, drops it on some poor mechanics lap only to find I've ordered the wrong parts. So again, just curious as to why there seems to be 2 different designs of manifolds and which I may need.

My set up right now is fairly stock. However, I have do have an Autronic standalone with my Evo3 16G. I have a front mount intercooler waiting to be installed and my HKS blow off valve is venting to atmosphere (just telling you incase that has anything to do with the manifold).

Thanks a ton,
Cody

Haha nice. At least you asked before you had a giant exhaust leak and a half melted bov. :D

Well as of right now you wouldnt need the flange for the external gate BUT if you plan on upgrading your turbo that maybe somthing to consider. You may want to buy one with a flange for the gate and use a block off plate for the time being. Again its just a thought.

Haha yeah no kidding. That would have been almost as bad as when I would have taken pictures of it and posted them here, asking why my BOV is now a clump of metal.

Thanks for the help guys! And Talon187, you're right that is something I will look into. Thanks for the heads up.

Your welcome. I could of bought a manifold with a gate flange on it and didnt. I was kicking myself in the ass 2 months later LOL :) good luck let us know what you end up geting

Do you have the proper supporting modifications to safely vent your BOV to the atmosphere? (Before you answer, a standalone ECU is not included, unless it's set up for speed density or MAP)
