Exhaust camshaft breaking

My exhaust camshaft snapped near the middle, has anyone else had this problem? and what causes it?

Manufacturer defect, spring bind behind the break at high RPM, or the cam seized in a bore somewhere behind the break at high RPM.

Shuffled or incorrect cam bearing caps.

The head itself may be warped, in turn causing the cam to eventually seize. I haven't heard of it happening specifically with DSMs but I have on other applications.

Try to figure out the cause first before throwing another cam in there.

Did this happen when you were putting in/taking out the cam?

I was driving normal and the car just shut off and wouldnt turn on but it turned over, so we sprayed started fluid in it and it sparked and turned on, then it sputtered and made some messed up noises, then it wouldnt ever turn over. ? any ideas?
