Evo3 16G turbo where do i go from here?

I'm new to DSM and I recently bought a 97 Eclipse GST spyder, the owner had already installed a Evo3 16g turbo with a boost controller. He's been running it on stock boost because he hadn't had time to tune it yet. What should i do in order to get the maximum power out of the turbo without doing harm to the car? From what i know ill need Walboro 190lph, Evo 560cc injectors and i don't know where to go from there.

My goal right now is to get it around 300whp, but first things first is to get this turbo on its way.
 
First find something to tune with, either find a 98 flashable ecu and do ceddymod or Evoscan. Or best option find a 95 EPROM ecu and get it socketed for ecmlink. I would personally skip the walbro 190 and go with a 255 and get a afpr. Injectors I wouldn't go any smaller than 850's if you want to see the potential of the evo3 turbo. But Since you just got the car before doing any of that, do all the Pm's you can think of. Change timing belt, check compression, change seals, plugs, wires, you get the point the list can go on and on.

Im new to tuning cars so is it difficult and/or high chance of screwing up?
 
Your better off learning the software and how to tune before you start modding. That way you have a grasp on what's going on and you will also see what things you can change or upgrading when your ready. I learned on my own and ran 12.4 in a gst on a hrc s16g (everything still in my profile). And ecmlink has a great forum, customer service, information, its all there just check it out before you go further. ECMTuning, Inc.
 
A data logger would be a good idea too, but you could just skip it and run dsm link.
full 3 inch exhaust
255 fuel pump
adjustable fpr.
egt gauge.
bigger injectors at least 560cc+, but no matter what size injector you run you will need a way to tune this setup, so it runs right.

play it smart and do all the maintenance stuff before you build the extra power.
make sure all the fluids, belts, and components are in good health.
get your hands on a copy of the fsm or download the factory service manual off the net.
 
You'll be fine on stock boost levels.

I didn't see anyone recommend a fmic which should be needed.

Also a afpr is not needed you can tune around it.
 
Still rocking the 190 in the GVR4 with a rewire. I have a 255 just laying around to put in but don't want to bother going with an AFPR. Still, I concur with the others...if you get the 255 you don't have to install another fuel pump for a while.
