Thinking about saving and getting the 2004 Evo instead of buying a GSX. What do you guys think about the evo? pros and cons?

:p Only bought my Spyder because it was a Spyder...best I could think of at the time. I4 Turbo.
OMG 30Gs? Why get a DSM...No resale value.
 I might get flamed for saying that but its true.
:dsm: <=== I've owned many. Still love em but its the truth.
 If I had 30Gs I'd get an NSX. But then again, I think you're talking about a loan.
:) Just my two cents.

What new car which costs around 30k would you buy that has comparable performance of that of an evo or sti? For 30k there's not many options...

srt-4 is damn nice. dont like the domestics tho. for 30k you could get a 350z or G35. the 350z looks the best out of all of them. it also handles decently, especially if you get the z with traction control. for an additional 13 grand you can get a stroker kit and twin turbo setup for the car and you'll be puttin out around 700 hp.

sti's aren't my thang. i wanna find a car that's sleek and sexy really. like a supra, or a GSX. i'd take those cars over any 4 door or boxerific car anyday.

If domestics arebnt your thing then dont buy a dsm, they arent imports. The 350z and srt run 14.0-13.9 not as fast as the evo. If I were to get a car to beat it I would go to my work and purchase a 03 cobra for about 24k and smoke any car mentioned in this thread:laugh: .
Andrew

edit: I forgot to mention my dealer is blue oval certified and I get a nice discount, they normall run about 35k-40k.

sure dsm's are imports. they are under the mitsubish name. they also look like imports, sound like imports, and are easily upgradable like imports.

All dsm were built in Illinois. Don't forget they're under the chrysler name too...

They're half domestic and half imports then. And who said the eclipse looks like a girl's car? If cars were judged by their looks then the evo would be an old man's car because it's a sedan. I even heard that the next year models for evos won't come along with the big spoilers because too many old people who can afford evos were complaining about the spoiler detracting from its look. But seriously I'd love to have an evo because it's faster and rarer but eclipses look better and sportier plus they appear lower from the ground up in stock form. Also I like smaller cars. Sports cars that are really big just dont look as nice.

No they are not imports, no they are not under the mitsubishi name, they look like any car(kinda like a mercury cougar and thats not an import), they dont sound like imports(only the n/a's sound like"rice", but thats just the typical 4 banger)Most imports dont upgrade like domestics.

DSM's have 70%+ domestic, 20% or so mitsu(just engine, the n/a dsm's have a neon engineso 100%), you do know that they were built designed here nothing was imported AT ALL, they were exported to japan and else where(about 2000 cars or less exported per year). So by law they are as domestic as a ford or chevy, infact my car has no mitsu name written anywhere...the id plate says dsm. The factory was manily run by chrysler until I think it was 97(maybe 98) from then on they arent DSM's per say. From then on out mitsu ran things, even those arent imports but are "under the name of mitsu".

SRT4? Don't make me laugh SRT4 is a piece of sh|t car. Stock its ok but performance wise...DSM all the way. Power windows up front & row-downs in th back...spells Honda. LOL:laugh: Maybe you can use Honda tape & gain 10hp. Point...any car with an average turbo(excluding the T25:D) & big FMIC would make good HP. The Neon engine is Junk...BUT the force induction setup makes it an ok car. 20Gs? Foe Ged It!

20Gs =

10G for 2G GSX
10G for performance parts & 12s

oh, and i suppose you just have 10 G's laying around at any given time... no bank is going to give you a loan for 10 g's for "car mods"

have you driven a SRT-4? Honestly? where you can actually play with it?

btw: nice spyder ;)

To get a GSX up to par with a stock evo, you would put more $$$ into it then you would pay for the EVO.

umm evos are 30 grand, and if you put 30 grand into a gsx it would kill an evo. now if you put 30 grand in both the evo would win but thats not what you said.

Seriously man, look at what you just wrote. Sounds like a pretty ignorant remark. Do some research before you post about a car you know little about.

In response to the guys talking about 240's, the only accurate statement was that they are all rwd. The current motor in the car takes well to a turbo, being a 2.4liter it also drops gobs of torque when boosted. Greddy makes a bolt on turbo kit with a 20g, puts down 210hp/250tq to the wheels at 6 psi. With an intercooler there is no problem finding 300whp with the 2500 dollar kit. As for sr vs the rb25, the only difference is about 500 bucks. Where the sr sells for roughly 2500 the rb sells for about 3k, forgot it also needs a custom drive shaft and motor mounts 4500-5000 compleyely installed. Independant suspension all around, excellent weight distribution, four wheel disc, and rear wheel drive, it is an excellant platform that screams potential. I own a 96 240sx, and a 96 gsx. Both awesome cars. If you dont really care about looks you can easily find a late 80's early 90's for about 2k. Drop a few bucks on coil overs, and a few more on the motor and youve got your self a bloody race car.

That spoiler is an option on the Evo, so what you heard just isn't true.

just had to post this.

i'm sure chrysler is kicking its own ass for cutting the DSM line now that car tuning is at its highest peak in popularity.

You obviously missed the Hot Rod magazine where they compared an STi and a Mustang Cobra. The Sti was faster and Hot Rod actually admitted that it was the better car.

i read that article. good article too. they admitted the sti was the better car. but for straight line purposes the cobra is there. and it doesnt' take much to get the cobra down into the 10s. a smaller pulley, exhaust, a small 75 shot and slicks. ya i'd hate to run into that on the street

Where would you find a NSX for 30k

moving on...

The Evo is an Evo no comparison....

1. its a new car
2. it has a superior drive train and suspsension
3. superior engine (newer better internals)
4. They are making that new freak WRC car so the Evo might not be around for long
5. The Evo stock for stock very few cars match up to it all around.
6. It has a warantee

A 1996 NSX with at least 80k will run you that much.

Be prepared to spend ass loads of cash to get that high mileage car serviced. NSX's are not for amateurs. (This isn't directed at you, EvolvingGST).

Why do you think that they made a tuning arm (SRT division) for chrysler and dodge?

SRT-4 neon
SRT-6 crossfire
SRT-10
any many others that i forgot to mentioned..
