Can it be done? I have a evo 8 16g turbo, the manifold and all of the plumbing and was wondering if anyone has done it or tried it yet.

Unfortunately, the hot and cold sides are reversed from what we use on our 4G63's. Anything can be done with time and money, but I don't tink it's worth either. You could always sell it and pick up an EVO III with the proceeds.

Hope that helps,

Andy

Yeah, the timing belt is located on the left, rather than the right like ours are.

I only want to change the turbo. Since the turbo is on a 4 bolt square flange could you just turn it 180 degrees, and make custom intercooler pipes?

You could probley make it work, but you would have to do some fabricating. It wouldnt be worth it. Like "andymoraitis" said, anything can be done with time and money, but in this situation, just buy a 16g off the internet for $500 shipped and you wont have any hassles!

I saw one on DSMtuners just a few months ago when someone asked that same question. The guy had a 1g Talon I think and with the evo 8 turbo, he had to take out his powersteering and a few other things. I just think that its too much work when there are easier options to make your car just as fast.

a legit MHI Evo3 16g is down around $500 at almost every vendor- With all of those parts, you're sitting on a decent bit more than $500- sell it to someone, and then buy a turbo that is a direct bolt on, that you dont have to #### with.

truth be told by all saying that it isnt worth i. mhi makes a grweat 16g that will work on our cars with little to no wrenching. check out turbochargers.com and look at there evoIII16g gt. i think that is the best 16g on the market. good luck with either choice.

There's quite a bit of controversy over the "GT" turbo and its quality. There are numerous threads about that topic.

many many topics on the "gt".but check out turbochargers.com and they end all of the hoopla about this and that on the "gt" aspect of it. there gt is a race inspired street/strip 16g. just go there and read. it made me a believer and im sure its done more for others too.

the gt is prone to breaking much more efficently than a MHI evo III, Honesly if you have your heart set on it you could do it with a welder some tubeing, flange's and time.. would it be the most efficent setup probally not.. but to each his own.. find a honda guy sell it and look at a MHI turbo, or something larger from a PROVEN vender..
