evo 8 swap

It can be done with the right amount of modifications and money. It would really be a waste of time and money to do so for the minimal amount of power you'll gain. For the money you would spend on the swap you could build your TSI to eat Evo's all day long.

Why would you swap in a block with the same displacement and basic head design? Just get a mild cam upgrade an evo3 16g and if you MUST have the higher CR (higher by only .3) then swap the pistons/rods from an evo8. But they also will have the wristpin offset incorrect, if I'm not mistaken, negating the benefit of the better rods, if they are better than 2g rods (???). . . You need to think this idea through before trying it. It by no means is a new thought. If you take the time to search, you'll see.

But it would be in reverse. That's gotta count for something LOL !

The major differences in the long block are cams and turbos/manifolds. All these can be upgraded in your current car for a fraction of the cost to swap.

tkhaab 34 my car is awd to start, and i have the evo 8 motor my buddy wrecked his and i took the motor out and gave him 1500 for it . i have the 16g evo turbo for my car already im in the process of doing a 6 bolt block swap to it now . i was just curious about putting the evo 8 motor in thats all

thanks for the input ill just sell the motor they are getting good money for them

I meant I would do the whole EVO VIII power train swap for 20 large. The hardest part would be finding a wrecked EVO III that most of the powertrain was still good in. The rest of it would just take time, and my friend who is a very good welder.

It can be done but is not worth the time and cost. You would get out cheaper and quicker getting a GSX or used Evo.

If you really must have an AWD Eclipse with Mivec then your going to be in for a long bumpy and expensive ride.
