Evo 8 ECU In 2g Works!!

I set my atmospheric pressure by logging while the car was off and till i got it close to 0. Worked great for me.

If you don't drive in places where the altitude changes much that should work pretty well. The normal atmospheric pressure doesn't change more than a couple of psi due to weather.

Right.
I was just showing the code to write, the exact math formula isn't the same.

I'm sure this is a dumb question, but can I ask how the math ends up as 50/229x-b?
I would've used something else...

how do you workout xml equations - evolutionm.net

I didn't notice the pressure deviation by elevation was that great. I'm at 2000-2500 ft. where I live. It looks like I need to set it at 13.6 instead of 14.5 that I'm using.

It snowed last night so the IAT sensor still isn't in. I hate not having a garage.

bring it to the garage /shop class there... my friend has classes there mad tools. LOL. how are you gonna install your and where did you get yours from? auto zone has them but no pig tails... that i could find on there site.

Exactly why this works great for me, the part of Cali im from is basically flat.

And im about to post up my GM Map sensor on ebay for dirt cheap as well since i really need at least a 3.5 or 4 bar sensor now.

Hey Guys,
I plan on running a evo 8 ecu in my 95 Talon 5spd with a 6bolt swap. The questions I have are:
Are all the problems and bugs worked out?
Will my pin outs be the same as in the first post?
Anybody get it to run successfully in SD?
There is just so much info in this thread that it's hard to keep up and read it all at once and comprehend it all. Sorry if it was all answered already. Thanks!

im running the same havent gone SD yet tho. but 6 bolt is fine are u using 1g or 2g head?

Thanks for the fast reply!

Do you know if I doing anything for CAS inversion or if it's even a problem? Do you know if you have to move the spark plug wires around like when you put a 95-96 ECU into a 97-99? Was there a fix for the CEL problem produced by the alternator of some sort?

to tell you off the top of my head i had to change the plugs in my 7 bolt but i cant remember doing it for the 6 bolt.. also the only cel i get are the basic no rear o2 umm and no egr fpr , i cleared those off. o yea and i did get a random missfire cleared that as well. no probs with the CAS running 9653 never checked with any other rom. i think i have the green top like its army green looking CAS so hope that helps.

you shouldn't have to do anything for the 95 as far as cas inversion goes. as long as you you swap over to the 9653 rom you shouldn't have any problems with cels.

If you're using a 1g head then you should need to do the opposite of the plug/wire swapping that you did to get it to work with your 95 ecu.

My car runs happily on SD with no CELs. The rom that I posted a page or two back is what I'm using with SD. If you use it then check it over carefully to match your car. It is currently tuned for a GM 3bar, GM AIT, and evo8 560cc injectors. It also has a bunch of other small things changed for driveability. Let me just say that I suggest using it as a guide for setting up your rom but if you use it as is then it might be okay as long as you ABSOLUTELY DO NOT use my timing and fuel maps because my VE will be significantly different than yours and my MAP scaling is not set to match load. Also it needs the IPW jitter fix applied to it because I put my car away before that fix was discovered.

Yes I'm using a 1g head. Did you have to switch around any different wires? Or did you use the same wiring method as everybody else?
as i said i dont remeber. i did swap spark plug wires in the 2g 7bolt and it wouldnt even stay on with out the correct order, so if you need to swap them trust me it will be obvious. what im going to do as soon as it get a little warmer is to try switching injector order. that i didnt do for my 7 bolt or 6 bolt but my 6bolt has an idle problem so i dont think you should worry too much.. some one else on this has done it as well . im waiting for the 3d map to go SD.

If you want to drop in an evo8 ecu in your 95 its the same as in any other 2g except you change the firing order by switching 1&4 with 2&3 and you should be running fine. And like a few people have already said SD is working fine on our cars and in my fwd SD is working out nicely with no cel's and 0 drive ability issues.

Thanks for confirming that! Now i just need to look for my diagnostics ports. I know i can wire that flashing port in, I'm not worried about that. :rocks::D:hellyeah: Thank you!!! :thumb:

As you can tell, super stoked.

Ive noticed ever since the weather here has gotten colder (under 75*) my car has been starting horribly. Anyone else running sd notice similar? Ill probably have to mess with the cold start a bit but i haven't had much time to work on the car at all. On other news going to be swapping my evo ecu setup into my newly acquired awd shell.

It has less to do with SD and far more to do with the evo ecu. Evos also tend to have this problem. Check this thread for quite a bit of help. I used to have problems with cold start even around 70*.

Thanks for that link, i guess since it hasn't gotten below 70* here in over a year until recently i never encountered that before.
