English Racing's trip to the 2011 Shootout!

Well the Shootout is over! Wasn't 100% the result that we were hoping for but we had an amazing time regardless and both cars drove back onto the trailer! Lucas English took 1st in the DSM Stock Appearing Turbo class with his consistant 10.2s in the Little Auto. Jeff Bush took 3rd in the Quick 16 class with a best pass of 8.8. Unfortunately we lost the AWD Automatic ET record (8.503) to Jesse Abele in the Red Rocket in the semi-finals. He ran an 8.45. That just gives us something to chase. Congrats to him. We'll be back again and stronger than ever! We have a few more races this year back in the NW, so you never know... :D

We are on our way back home now! Thanks to everyone who stopped by and said hi! BTW, for those that came by, I was the tall skinny guy in the black ER t-shirt, tan shorts, and Converses.

Well glad to see you came back with something, and working cars. Looking forward to more pics, and videos!!

Congrats guys! Your cars were a ton of fun to watch! Its amazing how many 8 and 9 second cars there were this year. For those that weren't there, 13 of the cars in the Quick 16 class ran sub 10.0 second passes. The competition was steep and those of us in the stands got a great show!

Thanks again for the help for my auto setup. Good talking to you and Jeff.

Next year I'm going to make the shootout one way or another period! Now go get that auto record back boys. :hellyeah:

Hell of a trip and glad you guys made it out. Like a lot of people I couldn't wait to see you guys run the auto! Good luck getting the record back!

We're about 11 hours into our trip home. We're now about 15 miles west of Des Moines, IA. GPS estimates about 28 hours to go!

Good showing fellas! Especially good to see the little DST auto take the win in our class. That car is amazingly consistent and just so simple it's stupid! As for the "race" car it's great to see the competition and I hope you push the envelope for that record again.

After nearly running out of diesel in west Nebraska at 2:00am local time, we made it into Wyoming! Almost had to bust out the little auto on the street to get diesel. Haha! About 1100 miles or 18 hours to go!

Glad you guys made it and do be "sailing" smoothly home. Cant wait to see what you guys have in store for the remaining part of the race season!!! GOOD LUCK!!!

Congrats on the good runs, and thanks again for helping me out with tools at the shootout. Next time I'm putting new plugs in before I go. Last thing I expected was to need to replace my two month old plugs, but as soon as I did, my sputtering problem was gone. Now if I could just find second gear.:ohdamn:

I hope my two gallons of fuel helped you guys.

:)

Yes thank you very much just the little bit brought our noise down a ton so we know for sure our combo in the drag car is in need of better fuel then q16.

Made it to Boise, ID! 350 miles to go! I can't wait to get home!

We made it to The Dalles, OR!!! Our 2011 Shootout is officially over!!! This is where the team splits up to head home individually! Thanks to everyone for making this trip worth it every year. 75 hours and 4800 miles roundtrip is quite an undertaking but we will keep on doing it! Videos and pics to come soon! Thanks again to everyone from the English Racing team!!!

Thanks a ton Gary it actually really made a huge difference in the car, Looks like Im dumping the Q16 now and going Import.

I also want to thank all of those who support our racing efforts from the side lines. I do apologize for not being able to make that last pass with Jesse. To many changes just before the pass, not to mention I was simply out of injector to even compete with him. I have a race coming up in 2 weeks at Pacific Raceways where I know we'll be charging hard to get the record even lower.
